Hi im NEW To xbox live .. Theres this name i really want so bad as a Gamer tag ...SADLY Its taken already but i dont think the user is using it! Is there any possibilities that i could have it for me?? I could contact Microsoft if i had too ,, PLEASE TELL
ME WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT IT AND SORRY IF THIS ISNT THE RIGHT PLACE FOR MY POST

I still say it every time I play it, while I use that unused space to knife some camping Wookie in the throat. But I enjoy that unused space because those wookies think they are safe out there.

If the tag is on the servers, then there is no way to take it. The tag system is in used on other Microsoft services as well, so even if it's not being used on the consoles then it may be in use somewhere else.

Keep checking the GT for availability, it's extremely rare but MS do free up unused 0GS tags from time to time. My GT was 'in use' for a few years by a 0GS acct but I got it eventually. If the tag has any games played on it though it'll never become
available.

Unfortunately your issue is very very common and it seems like any potential name is taken. That's why you see so many names with a bunch of random numbers. As far as I know there's little to nothing you can do.

You can always change your gamertag at anytime, but for a fee of course....

I hope you have better luck and end up getting your preferred gamertag or decide on a new one!

Most of the time if you are seeing a message saying the GT you want is unavailable, it’s true. One thing to remember is that spaces and capitalization don’t make your GT unique. For example, “Major Nelson”, “MajorNelson”, and “MaJoRnElSoN” are all the same
GT.

GTs are also tied to services like Zune or Games for Windows LIVE. If a GT doesn't exist on Xbox, it might be in use on one of those services. If you try sending the GT you want a friend request and it says it’s not a valid GT that just means it isn’t
used on Xbox LIVE, but it could be used for Zune or GFWL.

I heard old GTs are being re-added. When will "This GT" be available?

There is no schedule or estimated dates for when certain GTs will become available again. GTs are not an on-demand service. They will be available when they are available.
