How to use a used gamertag?

I have been thinking about changing my gamertag, but the one I really want to use is taken and I really don't want to use numbers. I took a look at the account with the gamertag and it practically had never been used. Is it possible to get the gamertag
and not use any numbers or glitches?

If the Gamertag is already occupied, it cannot be passed on unless the other owner of the Gamertag changes it and gives you the opportunity to change it.

you can go to a website which is social.xbox.com and you can change your name there and it will tell you if its avaliable

On rare occasion there have been purges, but no, once its yours its yours, and they cant tke it away and give it to you, sorry.

If its the same gamertag that is used with someone else no. Otherwise how would you distinguish either one. Just pick a unique tag or be forced to have identifiers as numbers etc
