How to use a heavy weapon

I must have missed something somewhere. How do I equip a heavy weapon? Using "Y" switches between Primary and Special and every other button appears to be mapped to something else when I look at the controls. I'm carrying a machine gun but don't know how
to select it for use.

Unlocking Carbines...?

^^I get the total opposite effect with the heavy barrel and ADS. The weapon gets like 50% MORE kick with the heavy barrel. Not a good attachment in BF4 IMHO. I dunno if there is ANY weapon I use it on. Maybe use it on a DMR, cant remember.

 

Glitch or something other ?

I have done these two recipes



Name: Rugged Holster

Use: Allows you to carry 3 weapons at once

Ingredients: x2 Deer Skin

Name: Heavy Duty Holster

Use: Allows you to carry 4 weapons at once

Ingredients: x2 Shark Skin



So, why wont they unlock ? No matter how many times I do these I still have two lock weapons on my wheel.

 

Hit Y changes weapons. HOLD Y will change to heavy weapon.
