how to turn off random people talking over the game?

am new to xb1 and tf, but i find it annoying that random teenagers just all of a sudden start chatting at quite loud volume, and with a bit of swearing too when i am playing tf - i have searched for an option to turn it off but cant see anything obvious
- any pointers? thanks

Struggling

The only people that need randoms to talk are throwbacks from L4D2. I dont talk in random rooms. If someone isnt doing well then I will pick them up, dust them off, then pick them up again. I dont see how talking to that person would help that much.

 

Skype camera and settings

Yes Skype kinect zoom is definitely random, heaters, sofas anything but our head, seems to be worse with more than one, the concept is awesome, always complimented by clients when video conferencing, just random zooms aren't ideal, also likes to cut people
off half their head etc, also can't find how to turn off zoom.

 

If you're in game: click the "window" button to bring up the player list, navigate to person you want to block using the thumb sticks or D-pad, press "X" to mute.

 

The Xbox One needs a "friends only" communication option like the 360 had, as that mutes every player that's not your friend by default in all games when you turn it on.

 

you can do it from your account using a computer

 

^^There's no option to do that for the Xbox One on Xbox.com. There is for the 360.
