Child account issues "is rated above xxx's content restrictions"

    Hello Polekat,

you will need to change your family settings by logging into the childs account, going to Settings>Family Settings>Turn off Family Settings.

account not permitted to download content with a certain rating?

    @aw3sumsawc3

ok changing the windows live id to a non child windows live id will not promote an account

also an adult account will not have ANY family settings at all nor is there any setting that prevents an adult account from downloading anything at all

if you have ratings settings then you are still an child account

    which is the confirmed answer

if you are in an family plan

no setting in the family plan will make your account into an adult you must wait till your account turns 18

please don';t revive an old thread with the confirmed answer

    this was answered last year

how to turn off family setting without going into an adult account

Add your under age child to a Microsoft Family that you are the administrator.

When he plays a game or app that asks for permission, you allow access by entering your password.

BTW you'll need a Microsoft account if you don't already have one. I assume you do since you are posting here.

How to set up a Xbox Family

Once they're added you need to
    edit their permissions
. one of which is playing online.

It's not too difficult. I've done this for my 2 kids.

    From your Xbox One console
Change privacy and safety settings for you or a child
    1. Sign in to your Xbox. (If you’re changing the settings for a child, sign in using an adult’s account.)
    2. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
    3. Select Settings > All Settings.
      For your account:
      1. Under Privacy & online safety, select Xbox Live privacy.
      2. Choose a default, or customize your settings by selecting View details & customize.
      For a child’s account:
      1. UnderAccount, select Family.
      2. Enter your password or passkey, and then select the account you want to update.
      3. Select Privacy & online safety, and then choose the default settings, or customize by selecting
        View details & customize.

    Sea Of Thieves Safety settings

    Please try to go to
    https://account.xbox.com/settings
and check your online and privacy settings.

If you just get a page that explains how to set up a child account, then you need an adult with an adult Microsoft Account.

The adult has to go to
    https://account.microsoft.com/family
and add your child account to their family.

Then the adult goes to https://account.xbox.com/settings and selects your child profile. Then they have to set your online and privacy settings to allow you to talk in multiplayer
    and to play multiplayer.
