    How to turn an Xbox 360 offline profile into a gamertag


    When I attempted to turn my main profile into a gamertag with the following instructions from Turn Xbox Offline Profile into a Gamertag | Join Xbox Live:

    1. Sign in to the profile that you want to convert from an offline profile to a gamertag.
    2. Go to Settings and then select Profile.
    3. Select Join Xbox Live.
    4. Enter your first name.
    5. Enter your Microsoft account email address.
    6. Enter your Microsoft account password.
    7. Verify the information on the screen.
    8. Verify the current privacy settings.
    9. Review the Terms of Use and then select I accept.

    I couldn't select profile as the option isn't highlighted.

    Thoughts?

    How to turn an Xbox 360 offline profile into a gamertag

    When signed in to the offline profile you should just see a Join xbox live tile on the main dashboard screen. Just select that and go to step 4

    The 360s had what were called offline profiles.

    These are profiles that do not require a MS account these were only available on the 360 on the One they require xbox profiles with MS accounts.

    If you never got with the 360 and never set your 360 profile up with a MS account then here is a support article that will instruct you in how to turn the offline profile into an online profile.
