How to remove an xbox live account from a unit

My xbox 360 died. I want to use my girlfriends xbox 360 as my own. She does not really use it any more.

while I am able to set up a profile, to play games. I am not able to download any content or make any changes to he console. He account management in settings is greyed out.

i have deleted her profile from the console, which had its own live account.

This did nothing. Now he console has no profiles that can access the account management settings.

please prove the steps to making my account the primary on the console.

making it this difficult is absolutely ridiculous.

Xbox is telling me to get Gold even though I have it?

Another way to attempt to fix this, is to remove the account from the xbox in settings->accounts-> remove accounts. After that is removed login with that gametag again to force the console to fetch your live subscription data. In rare cases your Xbox account and live account will lose sync.

if account is greyed out this means there is either no Profile signed in or it is currently signed in but not connected to live

 

When i sign in with the my profile, it says I am signed into live. I can access the game store, but can not purchase any games, as that says I am not signed into the live account.

When I click sign in, it loads a page with my avatar and that page says I am signed in.

The only options at that point are to "Close" or "Sign out". It will not let proceed with purchasing any games.

So which is it? Am I signed in or am I signed out.

Right now there is only one profile on the 360 with a live account. But it does not seem to recognize that fact.
