How to reduce xbox one latency? (ethernet cable?)

Very interesting! Well I have DSL and my download/upload speeds are 2.90 Mb/sec/.77 Mb/sec - Yep slow compared to those that posted above for sure.

The Ping connection reading to the Respawn/Microsoft Azure servers is usually listed around 47 ms for Titanfall on Xbox One. I'm in on Long Island, NY.

The Ping when measured within the Xbox One Network Advanced diagnostics is 95 ms - yes quite high. On Speedtest.net it usually around 26-28 ms, measured via my PC.

So if you have a download of 60 Mb/sec and are getting Pings in Titanfall that are very close to mine (considering the difference in download speed, then it all that extra cushion download is not making much of an impact overall it appears.

My Xbox One is connected wirelessly on Band N and is close enough to the router that I'm getting 100% signal strength. Haven't tested it via direct Ethernet cable connection since I'm getting 100% signal, so wonder if it will be any better.

What I do notice at times is that when I shoot my opponent, many times I get killed before I kill them, even if I start firing first. This is more noticeable with Real Live players and less with the game's AI "grunts" for example. Of course it could also
be due to my poor aiming and eye/hand coordination, ha! ha!

Go Ethernet all the way when you can. I go wireless for my sport games on my console but when I do play my shooters I go wired all day long. I even have my wired controller specifically for shooters. Reducing any lag in anyway possible helps.

  3. Titanfall runs great for me i always get a least 4-5 bars for the connection in titanfall... but i play alot of nba 2K and im pretty good but often during a match there would be short periods of time where i notice a slight delay when i shoot or make the
player move from time to time...could be cuzz the 2k servers suck but often its cuzz my latency would jump from 94 to 400 for a min and get back down...i dont really have any kind of lag while playing titanfall or forza 5...im thinking if i upgrade to the
90m that would help the latency be more consistent..its been a hell of alot better since i went wired thats for sure...should i get a better router....the one i have gets me 300m

@DJ SANDSTORM407, what is your upload speed? if you're getting 60m down, i'd guess you should be at least 5m up, what are your speed test results saying?

@Galactic Geek, sorry. could be a number of things, could just be a high latency to the MS servers, could be peak time and your ISP's connection is bottlenecking, or could be localized wireless interference, if you live close to other people, like in a apartment
building or close neighbors, or a WISP (like the one i work for) could be using wireless equipment that could temporarily interfere with wifi. wired is better even if it is only a few ms.

  6. Ok i just did a speed test from the speedtest.net website and it shows pretty much the same info as i get on the X1 ...i get a little over 11.59 mbps down and 1.15 mbps up. with a 23 ping...is that good?

with upload of 1.15m, i can see why you having problems broadcasting, i haven't tried broadcasting but i'd guess you'd need at least 3m up to have a decent stream and not lag on your game. i'd call your ISP and find out what speeds you should have. but having
    a 23ms ping is good.

Thanks for the suggestions Zero; I live in the country with the nearest neighbor over 5 acres away, so I doubt it's that. I don't think it's a peak time either because it occurred in the dead of night (around 2-3 a.m. or so). If it's my ISP, why would it
bottleneck now when nothing's going on and when it never has before, especially since the computers all seem to run fine online with no slowdown or lag? I don't think it's wireless interference either - I checked all of the devices and their connections -
again they all seemed to run just fine. Finally, I know wired is better, but it's simply not an option without an awful lot of work and rewiring around the inside and outside of the house.

  9. Yeah i just figured it out...ive had the basic high speed internet service which is not 60 mbps..i believe its 30 with just 1 upload...i have better options that offer 5-10 mbps up...im gonna do the upgrade..ive had this same internet for like 10 years lol
before they had lightning fast internet...thanks for the help i figured it out by going under the brighthosue website and checking my connection from my area.

definitely not a bottleneck issue that early in the morning. could still be a wireless interference issue, WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) will often have networks throughout rural areas, mostly where regular wired providers won't go. i work for
a WISP in the midwest, and let me tell you, we drop interference bombs all over these farm lands. even though a lot of our towers have a lower channel bandwidth keeping most devices from being able to pick them up in a scan, we still put out the maximum RF
power level that the FCC will legally allow that will mess with peoples routers from time to time. and late nights/early morning is the time we tend to experiment with channel changes.

or Xbox servers just happened to be having issues at that point in time. the simple answer is normally the correct answer.

wow, 30m down and 1m up? might want to call them and double check, that upload seems really low.

  12. I got some old school high speed internet lol which according to there website is considered lite basic high speed internet lol...im looking at the 60 mbps with 5 upload speed should do the trick compared to the 10 mbps and 1 upload internet i have now.
I think i was confused with the 54 mbps reading on my lap top...every test i do gets me 11 down and 1 up...thats to basic gotta get the good stuff.

yeah my bad i got the 10 down 1 up basic package i got over 10 years ago lol...i do get about 11 mbps though with the 1 up...so i get a little more than advertised but im going lightning with the 5 upload i even have an option to get 90 with 10 upload. Like
i said i was confused with what it said on my laptop under network sharing center.

ah, good stuff. going up to 5m upload should make all the difference when you broadcast.

  15. So the 54 mbps on my computers that i see under network share cent has nothing to do with the ISP just the router i assume...cuzz i dont got no high speed 54 mbps down internet lol
