How to play splitscreen?

HI,

We just got an Xbox Series X and although it sounds like not all first person shooters allow split screen, Halo is still supposed to be able to support that.

However, I cannot seem to figure this out it really shouldn't be that difficult. I have ensure that 'multi player' is setup on the parent and child profiles. I have also ensured that both accounts (profiles) are logged in.

I then selected the multi player option for Halo ( I have tried infinity wars, and the master chief collection), once i select the multi player I'm then supposed to be able to see the fireTeam with two profiles that will join the game. It does not seem to give that option.

I'm very frustrated at this point. Our old Xbox360 worked very easily and was quick to connect the split screen. What am I missing??

Thanks for the prompt reply, I have managed to get it to work on some old games (mindcraft) but not halo. Those instructions are confusing. I looked at it for Halo multi player but I'm missing the option for the very first step.

Go to: settings->accessibility->linear navigation mode

Linear navigation mode is not on any menus that I can find.

I'm also seeing errors that multiplayer is offline for some reason.

I got halfway through #2 before deciding it's TL;DR material. I agree with you, though, me and my friends play splitscreen all the time, and we always talk about how we need more games to play that are splitscreen. As a result, we're pretty much stuck playing
Nintedno 64 and Gamecube, which is still fun, but it's a pitty we have next to nothing that plays (well) in splitscreen on Xbox 360 that is competitive. Even when you do find splitscreen games, they're only two player. I don't understand why we went from 4
player to 2 player and downgraded over the years.

It depends entirely on the game.

I know on Borderlands 2 you could play splitscreen online. I'd play splitscreen with my brother on our Xbox 360, and a third friend would join us online. But I don't know if it would let two groups of people playing splitscreen also play online together.
