how to play Rocket League without gold

Hi I am new to xbox gaming. I purchased a xbox one s digital. This will only be used when a Grandchild visits. I DO NOT want a gold or live subscription as this will be a waste. I DO NOT want to play online. I purchased Rocket League via the store and
downloaded it. I now find I have to have a subscription to play the game. Can any one advise what I can do, is this the case with all games. Thanks Lorraine

That's weird, I dont have xbox live gold, but I was able to play a 1v1 online today for some reason?

Hi thanks for reply. When i try to launch Rocket league only option is" have code or buy gold. " can i obtain code as i have bought it?. Thanks

There are a lot of games with single player experiences and games that allow Split-Screen local multiplayer without a need for a Gold subscription.

According to the store page, Rocket League should have a local Split Screen option, that doesn't require a Gold membership.

Make sure you or your kid chooses a game mode that allows local split screen play. That way you won't need a Gold membership.

However, if your grandchild wants to play online against multiple other players, a Gold membership is necessary.

Hi. Sorry for being a bit slow to understand. How do i know which games on microsoft store will work on my xbox one s digital WITHOUT gold or live. I have just looked at car mechanics and there are 2 prices one with you having gold and one below that is
slightly dearer. Can you explain in grandparent level. Thanks Paul
