How to play Jackbox games with friends/family remotely

    Recently,
    Jackbox Games published a guide
about playing games with family/friends remotely, as well as with anyone. Given the current situation regarding social distancing and the fact that The Jackbox Party Pack 3 is now in Game Pass, I thought I'd share it here
as I've found these games to be great ways to have memorable social experiences through gaming with friends and family remotely, and a few people have told me how therapeutic playing the games and feeling sociable doing it has been for them during difficult
    times.

To play the games remotely, only one person needs to own them and be able to broadcast them. All other players will need a device to watch the games on and/or play the games on. (Most people I've played with have used their computer or TV screen to watch
the games, and their smartphone or tablet to play along.)

Jackbox has also compiled a streamer's guide with tips for those running and streaming the games to get an experience tailored to their preferences,
such as extending in-game timers, toggling room code hiding whee available, and applying family-friendly settings. If you're streaming the games on a site like Mixer where the general public can watch your streams, you may use different settings specifically
for a private group as opposed to games for anyone to join. As etiquette, you may consider editing the title of your stream to indicate if players at large are welcome to join or if you prefer to only play private games during that session.

I'll add a few personal tips and recommendations here based on my experiences with the games on Xbox/Mixer:

-The Jackbox Party Pack 3 is currently in Game Pass, and it's my personal favorite of all the Jackbox packs. Quiplash 2 and Trivia Murder Party
are among the games we play the most, and I think the other three games are also all really good. Most work well in a streaming setting, though Fakin' It might be difficult. In Quiplash 2, you can even

    create your own custom episodes
    .

-The Jackbox Party Pack 5 is on sale as of the timing of this post, and it's my second-favorite pack. Four of the games here have been ones
I play regularly, and Mad Verse City and Split the Room have been particularly popular choices. All of the games except Zeeple Dome work well for streaming.

-The Jackbox Party Pack 4 contains Fibbage 3, my favorite individual Jackbox game, which also has a mode called "Enough About You" featuring
prompts specifically about the people playing the game. This is a great option if you're playing with people who know each other.

-There are a total of six different Jackbox packs, as well as a few independent offerings from Jackbox like

    Drawful 2
and some similar games from other developers such as
    Use Your Words
    and
    It's Quiz Time
which feature a similar setup for playing.

-When broadcasting over Mixer, be mindful that some players may have a slight delay depending on factors such as their internet connection or choice of browser. Consider extending in-game timers and being willing to pause/unpause the game on a case-by-case
basis. Co-streaming can be a great option if other players also use Mixer. Additionally, when playing with friends/family, I often run a separate video chat through Google Hangouts or a similar program.

For discussion, I'd love to hear if you've had a particularly great experience with any individual Jackbox games, or if you have any additional tips regarding streaming or playing the games, or any other ways that you've been keeping in touch with friends
and family through gaming. Stay safe and happy gaming, everyone!

    :)
