How to play Gears of Wars 1 on Xbox Series X with a child (family protected) account

Hello, my child has 16 years old. We approved him playing Gears of Wars 1 since he is family protected. However, we have not been able to make him login into his Xbox Live profile when playing the game, thus there's not network gaming available. As a parent I can login into my account. What may be missing?

May I know what happens when you login to your parent (adult) account? Are you getting any errors?

Just to clarify, does your son have an active Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate or is it the adult (organizer) account that has the subscription? If it is, please sign in to the adult (organizer) account and set it as Home Xbox by following the steps below;

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Personalization, and then select My home Xbox.

3. Select Make this my home Xbox.

Hey John, thanks for answering. My kid does not have a subscription but I've XBOX Ultimate which shares all my games with them in the console. After deleting each profile and game data and finally resetting all Xbox 360 profiles from console I cannot login even with my parent account. I'm afraid I wiped out my XBOX Live features XD

I picked up Xbox One X in Sep'18 and I am enjoying Halo MCC with Gamepass. I had played Halo 1 and Halo 2 way back on my PC. Other is Gear of War Series, I completed Gears of War 4 on PC and now I was able to complete the series via Gamepass.

To play Gears of War 2 split screen on the Xbox Series X with a guest account, try the following steps:

1. Connect a second controller to your Xbox Series X.

2. Launch Gears of War 2.

3. Press the start button on the second controller to sign in as a guest account.

4. Once the guest account is signed in, press the start button on the first controller to start the game.

5. From the main menu, select "Campaign" or "Horde" mode.

6. Once you have selected your game mode, press the start button on the second controller to join the game as a split-screen player.

That's it! You should now be able to play Gears of War 2 split screen on your Xbox Series X with a guest account.
