How to play games game from disc

I am a brand new owner of an Xbox one s. How do we play a game from inserting disc without having to download it to the console?

NEW DASHBOARD, PLAY INSTALLED GAME... NOT FROM DISC

The game is installed to my hard drive prior to the new dashboard update tonight.

HOW do you "INSTALL" GAMES now? I dont see an option anywhere to install ANY GAME from the disc.

AND HOW DO YOU PLAY FROM AN INSTALLED GAME instead of from the disc? I dont see ANYTHING that give you the option to play from a game already installed on your hard drive.

You can't. The games have to be installed before you can play them.

You need to have your console connected to the internet.

The modern generation of consoles do not play the game directly from the disc.

On inserting the game disc into the console, the console will then download the game and any updates and install them on its internal hard drive.

I'm not sure if the reply you got is correct. On the home screen, on the top left box that show what game disc is inserted has a icon of a disc. On the old Xbox dash it had that too and it played from the disc.

I'm interested on how to play from HDD too!

I have been playing them from the games screen and my games and then launch thinking that plays from HDD.

You've never need to pick the play from hard drive option for it to play from the hard drive. Once installed it has always automatically played from the hard drive no matter how you started the game.

Keep in mind though that with the new disc format being used the discs will spin for longer to authorise the game.

And btw, the game is installed, and looking at the picture of the game on my dashboard the picture has an white icon of a DISC on it. Selecting it doesnt play the install. How do you play the INSTALL? Not play "from the disc". If there was a way to post
the photo of this tell me. Ill post it.
