How to on Home Xbox setup

I have been trying and failing to get my head around how to setup the home Xbox scenario.

I think this shoulb be simple. But it ends in lots of frustration and anger all around. So basically i have an xbox downstairs that i manually sign in to. The xbox upstairs is set as my home xbox so the kids can play games and use my gold access.

What ends up happening is that i get signed out mid game downstairs when the upstairs turns on. The other scenario is that once i get done complaining they fire up a game and start playing only to have limited access once i sign in downstairs.

we used to have the family gold option back in the day and that worked great. Now it is just a pain and even pushed one kid off to PSN.

So is this actually working as expected? The same house cant teally share Gold? Or did I screw up the configuration?

The home share works the same as any other console

You can only be signed in om one console

If you want your kids to play they need their own accounts and not sign in into yours on the upstairs since its the home console

Your console would be requiredto be online always

So if i understand correctly you are saying my kids need to have gold to play a game since my account would be signed in playing a game downstairs they would be unable to use my Live account since it is already in use.

if they have Gold then they would then be able to access my games upstairs on my home consile while i played whatever i wanted fownstairs.

is that what you’re saying?

It sounds more like a sign in issue rather than a Home issue. On the console your kids use, check the settings on your account and make sure you don't have it set to automatically sign you in when the console is turned on. Having their console set as your
Home should not kick you offline when they turn it on. Your account should not be needed at all if that console is set as your Home.

You are right on the auto sign in feature. We sorted that but the issue was that games were unavailable to play so they would have to sign me in anyway.
