How to move an Xbox profile from a parents Microsoft account to a child's Microsoft account?

Hi, When we first bought an Xbox years ago for my son we set up the Xbox with my account Microsoft account. Now that my son is older and has his own Microsoft account. He doesn't want to start a new Xbox profile as he'll loose all of his friends, progress and games. I want to transfer his Xbox profile that is linked to my Microsoft account to his Microsoft account so that he doesn't lose years of games and progress. How can I go about doing this?

    :)

How to move an Xbox profile from a parents Microsoft account to a child's Microsoft account?

    Hello there!

Unfortunately there is not a way to transfer the games and progress he has on your account to the new that has been created for him. You can try adding his new e-mail as an alias but that will not be transferring games, it will link both your e-mails together as one.

The solution we can provide you with here is to set up your account as his home Xbox on his console, so that you can share the games and subscriptions you have on your account with him. As for the progress, unfortunately, he will have to start over on the new account.

    Transfer Parent's GamerTag to Child

    Hi LauraQ0220,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft forums.

Every person, adult or child, should have their own Microsoft account (email) when using any Microsoft services, including Xbox Live. When creating a child Microsoft account using their correct age, and then adding it to an Xbox console to create an Xbox
Live profile, the profile will automatically set default privacy restrictions for the age of the child. Then, the parent can add the child to a

    Microsoft Family
and use the many features of parental control to monitor what your child does on Xbox Live, set content restrictions, ask to buy, set time limits, and manage privacy settings.

It's very important to create a
    child Microsoft account
for a child when they want to use Xbox Live so that a child is not using someone else's account besides their own, which can be monitored through Microsoft Family parental controls. Creating a child account for the child when they
first want to use Xbox Live, with restrictions suitable for the age you enter, is how you would prevent this situation from occurring.

Unfortunately, Microsoft cannot transfer Gamertags from one account to another and I don't see that changing because there are many features in place so that a parent is not forced to give their child access to their own Microsoft account.

Parental Consent Why you're being asked for parental consent

If the date of birth on your Microsoft account shows that you're under a certain age, Xbox is required to request parental consent for you to use Xbox Live.

If you're an adult, but you got a message asking for parental consent, it's because you're a child in your Microsoft family.

    Solution

If you're of an age that requires parental consent, follow the steps on your Xbox to have your parent sign in and add you to their Microsoft family.

If you're over the age requiring parental consent, have your parent remove you from the family. They'll have to sign in to
account.microsoft.com/family, select your profile, and select
    Remove.

If you're unable to clear the message, contact Xbox Support.
