How to map screen record/screenshot to Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller on PC?

Hi there,

I recently purchased an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller for my PC. I connected it fine using the same Xbox USB dongle I use for my Elite series 1 controller and then opened the Xbox accessories app on Windows 10 to configure it.

I am able to do all the configurations as expected except there seems to be no way for me to assign screen recording or screenshots to the controller, this is despite the Xbox accessories app clearing stating this is possible when you first sync the controller
in the app.

There just doesn't seem to be any option in any of the drop downs on the button assignments for screen record or screenshots. It is driving me crazy.

Has anyone actually got this to work? Can someone please advise how I am supposed to do it?

Being on PC, I have this issue as well. There is no way to map "take a screen shot" or "Start/stop Recording" to the Elite controller through the Xbox Game Bar, or Accessories App....the button mapping works fine on the accessories app, but the Game Bar application does not recognize the button inputs from the controller when attempting to assign a short cut. Short cuts must be assigned via Key Board currently, and the short cuts do not translate over IE: 'Shift - A' on the key board is not the equivalent of 'Shift-A' on the controller. To use the screenshot or recording feature on PC, I currently have quickly hit the short cut on the keyboard, then get back to the controller...very inefficient.

the share button on xbox controllers will only work in windows 11 for gamebar. this has been purposely done.

You may try this too: Use the Feedback Hub on Windows (press Windows key + F on keyboard). Please make sure to detail out Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and choose Xbox in every category so it will reach to Team Xbox.

Thanks for the quick response, Kathy! Unfortunately, I've already seen this article in my research and there is no "Action" tab. One thing that is confusing: in my research I easily tell whether an article, like the one you sent, was related to Windows or Xbox. I wonder if perhaps there is an "Action" tab on Xbox but not Windows 10?

I just want to say that being able to use a shift button to map capture to a specific button was always a thing in the accessory's menu for the Elite 2 controller.

I had my controller set up that when I clicked in a thumb stick it acted as a shift button then when I pressed B it would record to my external hard drive,
That is how I set it up.

However, I just went to mess around with my elite in the Accessories app and all those options are now missing from the menu's within the app and I can no longer set my controller up this way.

Considering the Elite as you have already pointed out doesn't have the ability to have a capture button this irritates me to no end that they have removed this functionality from the app and thus the controller.

I hope this is not intentional and they fix this.
