how to manually use the game recorder on the xbox one?

Hello, my xbox one doesn't have kinect so I haven't been able to try out the game recorder, does anyone know how to manually use it with a controller or the remote?

You should say "Xbox Record that" to record the last 30 secs. If you say "Xbox go to game dvr" it will snap the dvr but you than have to manually hit record.

 

Turn off auto game clip saving?

Auto game dvr recording is annoying in Dead Rising also and quite frankly not needed. It seems like turning off game dvr prevents manual recording as well via "xbox, record that", unfortunately. Anybody else know how to prevent auto recording while maintaining
the ability to manually record?

1. Buy Kinect

2. Plug it in

3. Say "Xbox, record that"

and I believe you can snap game dvr with controller from the menu

 

If you not in the beta. Go to dashboard. Click on snap. And click on game DVR. I f you on beta. Double tap XBOX buttion. And then click on GAME DVR.

 

I found this for non-kinect users, so it's obviously possible... "You can use Game DVR as a snapped app to record up to five minutes of gameplay even without the Kinect. You need it snapped to your screen to record, but you can still capture gameplay, edit
it, and upload it."

As for buying kinect, it is not available separately yet. I don't really need it now that I got a $7 IR extender cable for my tv cable and sound systems...

 

bizarro if you had an xbox one you would know you could snap with the controller right from the home screen

 

Canadian.. not to throw more fuel on a fire.... but you honestly are missing out on a lot of cool features by not having a kinect... get one from eBay for like $40.00

 

I brought an HD PV2 Hauppauge PVR at the very beginning of this year and use it to record on my Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. The PVR uses HDMI connection to the consoles. Have had Xbox 1 since 22 November (launch) and don't quite know how to use the Kinect to record.
With my PVR, and the included software (ArchSoft Showbiz) on my laptop, can record as much or little as I want and it records chat too. Records me chatting through my laptop's built-in mic.

 

External capturing is a different beast Smiles. both have their pros and cons. Sure external, you get 100% control of everything you do. Internal is limited to what MS gives us.. but can your external post what you capture directly to your XBL feed?

 

Actually I do have some gameplay recordings where my Xbox 1 randomly recorded some seconds of my gameplay in Zoo Tycoon and perhaps a few other games. I think it was the DVR feature or something until I learned how to turn it off. I could look up how to
use the Kinect to record. I have some favourite Xbox Youtuber's who use their own PVR (mine is the HD PVR2 Hauppauge). Voice Commands is locked for NZ locale but from what I read in news.xbox.com in the July Update they may be unlocking it for NZ locale without
us having to switch it to Australia locale just to try out voice commands.
