How to manage Xbox Live Gold with two Xboxes and four family members

I've had one Xbox for a few months and have Xbox Gold Live for me with the rest of the family associated with my account. The box auto logs me on and anyone in the family can play online. But no one can play online on the new box unless I'm logged on there
and it won't let me be logged into both at the same time. Is there anyway to allow anyone to play online on the second box when I'm on the first?

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox Live Gold Family Pack is no longer available for purchase, after several people noted its disappearance earlier this month.

“The Family Gold offer is no longer available for purchase,” a company representative told Joystiq. “The Family Center experience with settings management, allowance granting, child activity reports and family subscriptions management are still available for current Family Gold members at this time.”

Asked about the reasoning behind this decision, he replied: “We continually evaluate our business focus and work to offer services that make the most sense for our customers and Xbox.”

The Family pack was originally introduced in November 2010 and was a $99 bundle that included four year long Gold memberships for four family members, along with functions to monitor and control each family member’s content purchasing and viewing settings via the Family center.

The Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack gives you four 12-month Gold memberships for less than the price of two. You can easily convert an existing Xbox LIVE Gold membership, or you can sign up for a new Xbox LIVE account and Gold Family Pack membership.

Note You will get a discount on your Gold Family Pack membership if you have time remaining on your existing Gold membership.

With the Gold Family Pack, you can:

Give family members an allowance of Microsoft Points to redeem for films, games and more.
Manage your family memberships, activities and Family Settings from the Family Centre.

A: Yes. When an existing Xbox LIVE Gold member is added to a Family Pack, the remaining time on their Gold membership benefits the whole family! For every two months remaining on their current Gold membership, the entire family receives an extra month of
Xbox LIVE Gold. For example, if your child has six months remaining on their existing Xbox LIVE Gold membership, when you add him/her to your Family Pack, all four of the individual Xbox LIVE Gold accounts available in your Family Pack will be extended by
an additional three months. If you have two children who have four and six months of Gold remaining, respectively, on their existing Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions, all four of the individual Xbox LIVE Gold accounts available in your Family Pack will be extended
by an additional five months.

The other family members can only share your gold while they use your Home console. So you would either need to make the other console your Home console (which means only you would have gold on the first console), or you need a second gold subscription on
another account and have that account set the second console as your Home console.

So, if I add Gold to account 2 and make box 2 the Home console for that account, does that mean I have to be on Box 1 and account 2 has to be on box 2 for everyone to get online? Or could we have me and account 2 on box1 and accounts 3 and 4 and still have
everyone online?

I'm trying to work out what's the most flexible approach? Would it be more flexible to add a fifth, dummy account with Gold and box 2 as its home and auto-logged on?

The accounts that have gold can sign in and use the gold on any console they want. Since both of those accounts would have both console set as their Home consoles, the other accounts can sign onto either console and use gold with no problem. Neither your
account or account 2 would have to be signed in.
