  1. How to make sure cloud games are properly saved (planning for factory reset)

My xbox one has been pulling the 'can't save games' schtick since Fallout 4. I've been able to muddle through it and subsequent games by deleting and saving nearly simultaneously (BARELY got through Mass Effect Andromeda) but now I've loaded Arkham Knight
and it just plain won't save at all.

*I do not have xbox gold, but I am connected to live.

    *I have plenty of space.

*I'm not getting any synch issues/errors.

I've read on this forum that the only cure is to perform a factory reset (if anything new has come out that I missed please advise)

i'm concerned with doing this because I really don't want to lose my saves (and either you can't, or I'm not clever enough to figure it out, move saves to a thumb drive?)

So, is there anyway to make certain the saves are 'in the cloud' before I burn this sucker down?

    TIA

    :)

    Upgrading to Xbox X question

yes all your digital games are tied to your gamer tag. you may have to re download them, but shouldn't have to re purchase. Your game save data you may want to upload to the cloud. Especially physical copies of games. You'll lose all data from those unless you do the cloud route.

so before you trade your system make sure you have all data you want to save on a usb device (external hdd, ect) or cloud saved. wipe the memory of your old system and restore it to factory settings. this will take your account (live sign in ect) off of the device. then just double check to make sure everything your trading in works properly.

  3. New Games NOT Loading (Getting "Dashboarded")

I tested it out. The factory reset will not delete your saved game. Everything saves to the cloud so when you reinstall your saved game will be there.

Those who've seen me post know I'm no genius but...

IMO a factory reset should always be your last resort.

If you have a lot of digital games you may have a headache re-downloading everything.

If the problem has anything to do with your ISP a reset won't fix it.

I guess all I'm saying is...

If it were me, I'd make absolutely sure I've tried everything else before resetting the console. Also make sure you know all your email addresses, passwords, etc. associated with your account if you do go kwazy and reset.

    Good luck.

  5. There looks to be 'reset but keep loaded games' option. Would that work?

How would this cause the save issue? There is another xbox on my router that has no issues like this at all.......

    Thanks again!

  6. You may have missed the part where I said I'm no genius. lol

The "keep loaded games" sounds good. I've never done a reset because I've never had an issue that justified it.

As far as the ISP thingy, I just meant if you have slow internet, resetting an Xbox wouldn't fix it IMO.

Ultimately you are the one who decides what you're gonna do. I'm just throwing in my 2 cents. (that's probably more than my thoughts are worth. lol)

Hi TIA, this would definitely be the safest option because I recently had an issue with the Xbox browser (Microsoft Edge) whereby it wasn't loading on cue and just kept hanging whenever I wanted to use it. I spoke to MS support and we ran through a number
of options, finally agreeing that a full Factory Reset should be my last resort. But here's the thing: prior to resetting the console, I actually did try the safer option (keeping my cloud saves), but in the end the only difference between the two was losing
the fully INSTALLED games - be they digital or disc-based.

In both cases, all of my valued saves were there, but then I'm an Xbox Gold member (which means cloud-saving is part of the plan). I'm just not sure whether the same benefits apply to Silver members. Hopefully someone will confirm this for you!

Considering you have another Xbox that isn't having issues, I'd say that it doesn't sound like a network issue, at least on the surface. Not sure if it makes any difference between Gold and Silver users, since you don't have Gold, but you could try removing
your profile from the Xbox in question before doing the reset. Since you've been having the problem with more than just a game or 2, I've heard a few different instances where there was a problem with a corrupted profile, so it may be worth a shot before going
    through a factory reset.

Aside from that, if you do the reset, then keeping game data should work just fine. I'm almost certain it deletes all game saves on the console side, but leaves the cloud saves intact... in fact... now that I think about it, if memory serves you may be given
a choice to delete cloud save data in addition to console data in the process. If so, then just make sure you choose not to delete the cloud data. If it doesn't give you the choice, I believe it will tell you at some point in the process, that only local saves
will be deleted and that cloud saves will remain intact.

Hopefully you get it sorted soon, GL.

As A Blue Illusion suggested; remove your profile/account from the console and re-download your profile/account from Live.

Before you go ahead and remove your profile (if you haven't already), make sure you know your login credentials for your Microsoft account (associated with your profile).

    Keep us posted.
