How to leave a random Microsoft family

basically I was playing a game and a message popped up saying someone had added me to their Microsoft family, at the time of this I didn't know what it meant. However, a few days later it said I hadn't got any "screen time" left. So now I can't play my games
or chat with my friends. Also I don't want to have make a new Xbox account and buy all my games and Xbox live gold subscription back, because it would be expensive. If you know what's going on and how to leave this family please tell me how.

Just making this account to post this took a long time, and it will probably take longer to download all my games. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

This may mean that you're still a minor or yes, you're in a family group. If you're still a minor, you will not be able to leave the family group, the organizer is the only one that can do that.

To check if you're on a family group, please sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/family.

If you're not in a family group, and you're a minor you need to ask your guardian or a parent that is an adult to add you by signing in to their account via https://account.microsoft.com/family, once you're added as a member, they will sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings to manage your account and privacy settings.

Hey ngocphi, since when did you become hired at microsoft? how about we leave breaching the terms of service to the actual employees and not some random who wastes their time trying to pretend he works at microsoft. get a life.

Is your account part of a family gold package? I have the option to remove accounts from my family center. That may be what it is. I think it also may require the "adult" member on the package to approve it.

I am very sorry for the problem you are going through, with the intention of being able to help you I did an internal search on the Microsoft forum and found a publication by Gerardo C., an independent advisor, where he suggests the following steps to leave a family group at Microsoft:

You can leave the family group in the following way:

1. Go to the following website and log in with your account:

https://account.microsoft.com/family/home

2. You will see your account as a member of the group in the family list, click on "You" or on the profile image of your account.

3. In the "General information" tab, navigate to the bottom of the page and you will see a section that says "Member settings" where you must click the "Leave family group" button.

Keep in mind that if you are not of legal age you cannot leave the family group on your own.
