How to know which region xbox gift card to purchase?

Hello, my microsoft account region is set to Lebanon, but when redeeming a code it shows United States near my email like in the photo.

So if I want to purchase gift cards, which region gift cards do I get? I can either get USA gift cards or global gift cards (since there are no Lebanon gift cards).

I am seeing this on the xbox application on pc win11.

You would purchase codes for your own region, but since you are in a region that is not supported, there would not be any codes for your region. If you were to purchase them for the US or any other region, they would not be guaranteed to work since your region won't match.

Gift Cards must be used in the region which they were purchased unfortunately.

As Brad said, request a refund. With that, I would then recommend that you look into purchasing a Xbox gift card FOR HIS COUNTRY for him to purchase it on his account. Again stressing region there, as the gift cards are region specific as well.

The best way would be to purchase a Xbox Gift card for their region from an online store such as amazon. You say you both live in Europe, so purchase the gift card from the amazon site that is in the same region as your friend. That way you are guaranteed a gift card for the region your friend is in.

Even though the Xbox is region free, you still need the account region to match your location as far as purchases go. Xbox gift cards (point cards) are region locked. So they will only work in the region they are created for. So even if you made a US account,
you would have to purchase a US gift card.
