how to join enforcement/moderator team

No offense to any of the other mods, but hands down (IMO) Cloud was the best. He enforced the rules, yet treated people with respect, didn't talk down to anyone and didn't have a persona of being a know-it-all. He made friends, yet didn't play favorites
and that says a lot about character and integrity. Instead of a demotion, he should've been promoted.

To be an effective mod, aside from knowing forum rules/policies, you need to have good people skills and commonsense (IMO).

 

The moderation on this forum is super sketchy. I will have a moderator post after me in a thread then the next day stuff is deleted and or I am banned what are you not moderating the same forum. Did I break a rule or do you personaly not like me?

First step should be if you get banned they send you a email stating why you where banned otherwise how would you know what rule you violated.

Same goes for deleted posts/threads. I have noticed lately that there is a lot of thread clensing going on for example I posted in a thread saying that Forza Horizons ripped of Test Drive Unlimeted 2 and they removed the posts why.... You will never know
because they don't tell you.

Its all a lot of guess work around here and at this point it just feels like damage control.

 

@bstn iv been banned 3 times once coz i put stars in my word and twice for no reason one was coz i reported someone yet i got banned thoughs two times i didnt get a email or anything cloud was the best mod on here

 

Why anyone would want to be staff on this site is beyond me. People think they can miraculously make the place better when reality is they just end up becoming part of the bigger problem.

 

That maybe true, but I'd still be willing to take a stab at it.

I want to join the P.E.T team too, but I can't find it anywhere.

 

Maybe by studying mod behavior, one may be able to become one themselves.

Usually, they know how to spell, so that's a good place to start. Saying "no" for "know" is a no no. Secondly, they generally just lurk and don't really take part in discussions. One mod lost his mod-hat because he was too friendly with the rest of us.
Mods are generally pretty useless too. When something major happens and you need a mod...like the night some guy went to town posting porn all over the place, where were the mods then? It took more than 8 hours for a response. But if I post a thread about
some harmless topic, it's gone within a New York second. Well I just thought I would throw that in.

So here is the list I've compiled

1. Learn to spell.

2. Show no sign of personality or humor.

3. Most importantly, don't just show up here one day and ask to become one. That pretty much guarantees that you won't be joining the mod team.

 

I give bowski her due, she joins in a little. She was also good enough to pm me to tell me why I'd been naughty the other day.

 

We're all nice and I think this thread or the forums in general aren't the right place to discuss moderator actions. Since this is an old thread it's time to lock it.
