how to have xbox live gold membership shared with 2 consoles

Xbox 1 - Set as my Home Xbox with Gold, but uses separate free membership account.

Xbox 2- Set as Home Xbox with free membership, but I sign in and play with The Gold account.

Would this allow the two consoles to share Xbox Live? Or am I missing something here?

If the gold is tied to your account, you would be sharing gold in either scenario. You can only share gold on one console at a time. You can set another console as your Home console so you can share your gold there, and you can use your gold on any console
you sign into.

You could cancel the Gold membership (or let it run out) on your parent account, and have one kid that usually plays on Xbox 2 give a new Gold membership.

Then have that "Gold kid" set the Xbox 1 as their Home Console, while they play on Xbox 2.

That way your account (that isn't Gold anymore) doesn't have to be signed in on the "non-Home Console", and as the "Gold kid" is playin on Xbox 2 anyways, they will share Gold to that console, as long as they are signed in on that console, while the Home
Console sharing keeps Xbox 1 golden for everyone.

Yes, essentially that is how it works. If your brother's account is the one with the Gold membership then he will just need to add his account to your Xbox and then have him set your console as the Home console. You should at that point be able to play multiplayer
without needing your brother's account signed in. It still needs to be on the console set as Home, so don't remove the Xbox from the console after you set up the sharing.
