    How to have headset game sounds coming through speakers only with P2 plug?


    I bought a headset and a new controller with a P2 headset entrace, but I just can't find a way to limit game sounds to come through the speakers only.

    Basically, I don't wanna hear my game sounds through the headset, but through the speakers only. I want to have my headset for party/game chat only, just like with the original headset that comes with the console. How can I do this?

    Can't have my headset to Party/Game chat only, help!

    Hello. Basically, I bought a new controller, the one with the P2 port for plugging in a headset, and been using a simple mobile phone headphone for test.

    The problem is that both the party chat and game sounds are coming through the headphone, I've been fiddling around the settings for almost an hour and can't seem to find a way to have only the voice chat coming through the headphone while having the game
    sounds coming from the speakers ONLY.

    Can someone please help me with this? I don't want the headphone for listening to the game sounds, I want it only to listen to the party chat and game chat (like with the voice comms on Elite Dangerous). Xbox One can't be this limited to not allow me to
    do this.

    Do YOU play with chat through speakers?

    It's a total mess! I can't stand hearing chat through my speakers. Even if I don't plan on talking in game, I always hook my headset in because I don't want the chat to disrupt the sound in game. It sucks that the X1 isn't shipping with a headset, at the
    moment, but I'll still be buying one because I won't have chat coming through my speakers.

    Hi there, I would need a little more context to help you. Is this through a headset? Speakers? If it's your speakers or headset, how can you be sure it's the Xbox and not those? Can you test your speakers with another program on the TV/PC and can
    you test the headset on a PC? Let me know what you come up with.
    Its just the sound that should play through the TV, I don’t have any additional speakers or headsets, but the tv is playing sound normally, just nothing when i turn the xbox on

    Party voice chat only works via headset

    This option normally only enables the game group, not the xbox group.

    And it makes the sound split through the headset, and game sound through the speaker, when available.

    Hello Teroknor,

    It sounds likely that in Settings you have party chat audio to come out through both speakers and headset. To change this, go to Settings > Display & Sound > Volume > Party Chat Output.

    Change that option to 'headset only' and now try again.

    I used to use headphones for in-game sound while late at night, but no longer do that. I use the headset while talking to friends either in party chat or game chat, but prefer party chat. While on my own I don't use my headset, but have it plugged in so
