Never ever use a DVD cleaning goes, their gimmicks that can damage your drive. Especially if you have a slot loader like Xbox. They do absolutely nothing, and the very first thing would be to tell you to never do is touch the laser lens with anything. Every single drive already has dust gates in it. Only simply troubleshooting we can do regarding Xbox not reading discs such as doing a power cycle and resetting the console to clear cache.

Power cycle:

Turn off the console and unplug it for 30 seconds before turning it back on and try again.

Reset console:

NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select System.

4. Select Console info

5. Select Reset console.

6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

This will also help sync the data on your console properly.

If still your console is not reading discs, this is already a hardware issue and will require repair.

I've had the same problem since day 1. Only at first, it came up once a day. Now, I'm lucky if I get through 2 matches.

I've read lots of things online and tried most of them. Clean the lens on the DVD drive (both using compressed air and Q-tips to clean the lens), installing the game to your hard drive (had to use my step-son's console), cleaning the disc (HA!), cleaning
out system, etc. etc. None work.

I'm hearing it might be an issue where one of the machines used to make the discs might have had a bad copy to where it might have messed up one of the layers on the DVD. So nothing short of a return for a new disc will fix the problem - only many give
you more time in between the error messages.

Check if your Xbox One can play standard DVD movie discs (Not Blu-ray discs). Xbox 360 game discs use DVD disc media. If your console can not read DVD discs, then it has a hardware fault.

I tried playing a regular DVD in my Xbox, but it doesn't do anything. Only discs for Xbox One work at the moment. Is there a fix for that?

It's not the discs it's your console. If your console can not read DVD movies then it won't read Xbox 360 games either. DVD movie discs use the same type of discs that 360 games use (DVD-9).

The Xbox One has two lasers to read discs. One for Blu-rays - which Xbox One discs games are made of - and one for reading DVD's and Xbox 360 games.
