How to get fallout 3 code

I preordered Fallout 4 the night before release digitally from gamestop and have not gotten any code for fallout 3. I called gamestop and after sitting on the phone for a hour and a half they blamed it on microsoft and said I need to contact them .

I called the xbox help line and he said there is a service alert (which makes no sense what it has to do with this) and put me back on hold then said they have gotten overwhelmed by all the people downloading it that they crashed the server. I am just trying
to figure out if this is true ,or if he was just trying to get me off the phone . Also who is responsible for sending out the code ,gamestop or xbox?

Date of purchase: 10th of January 2016

Issue: The message with my Fallout 3 code has expired

I bought Fallout 4. It was promoted that I will get an activation key to Fallout 3 for XBOX 360. I received a message with this key, but now this message disappeared. How can I get it again?

You say that you pre-ordered it the night before release. This is the reason you haven't got the code yet.

If you read the description of Fallout 4, it says that a code will be delivered to your Xbox Messages Inbox 7-10 days after your purchase.

Thank you for the reply. I wasnt sure how it worked,since it was digital,I didnt see a description.,It just started downloading the game when I put in the code. I thought gamestop was suppose to give me the code because in the description on their site it
says" online customers code will be packed with game".Kind of amusing though, no one really seems to be on the same page between the retailer and microsoft as to how the backwards compatible games are suppose to work.
