How to game with a headset?

Hello All, I recently purchased a new Xbox One, my first Xbox since the original. Any ways, I am thinking about getting a headset so I get online and game without bugging anyone else in my family with the noise. As a result, I have a couple of questions.
First, do I just get a headset with the 3.5mm jack, plug it into the controller and go? Or, are there some setup steps on the console I need to go through? Is the stereo headset adapter required? My TV is hooked up to a Bose surround sound currently so I have
no idea being an Xbox noob if just plugging the jack into the controller is the way to go off the bat. Thanks in advance for your help!

How to play a game with a cracked disc?

In the past if a game is broken/scratched and the Xbox still is able to read that it's "disc name here" I borrow or rent the same game, install it and since the Xbox still is able to recognize the original it plays just fine off the hard drive.



If the Xbox recognizes the "broken" disc:

Step 1: Rent or Borrow the
same game from a friend.

Step 2: Install the rented/borrowed game.

Step 3: Return game from step 2.

Step 4: Put broken but recognized game back in tray.

Step 5: Enjoy the now fixed game!

Once the disk cracks it should no longer read in the xbox, the install failed due to the crack, but once in a great while theres a chance that the content downloaded for that game also affects the playability of the game itself.

Stereo Headset Adapter has buttons for game/chat balance, volume and the all important mute. So, I recommend using the stereo headset with its adapter. If you do that, there really isn't any setup. Just plug it in and start playing. But, if you do plug
a headset directly into the controller via 3.5mm jack, the Xbox will automatically makes Headset volume, Headset chat volume and Mic monitoring settings available right at the > Settings menu directly off the Home page/menu (kind of cool isn't it). Make sure
the Headset mic is set to On.
