    How to fix my mic

Hello Leslie P, my name is Vanessa, I will help you in any way I can.

I found information that may be useful to you, the information is not mine, it is from Advisor Gerardo C.

    Information:

Make sure the controller you are using has its firmware fully updated using the instructions at the following link:

    https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/controller/update-xbox-wireless-controller

Make sure that the chat mixer is configured correctly so that both voice chat and the game can be heard.

Check it out in Profile & system > Settings > General > Volume & audio output. Under Advanced Options, select Additional Options, then select Chat Mixer.

    You can try this too:

Check that the microphone is set correctly in the game or app you are using.

Open the game or app and find the audio settings.

Make sure the microphone is selected as the input device and the volume level is set correctly.

Try using a different microphone, if you have another microphone available, try using it to see if the problem persists.

How do I fix my mic

Hello REUBOWSKI, this is Manuela. I'm an Independent Advisor and community user like you, ready to assist with this.

    Not a Microsoft employee.

It’s unfortunate to know you’re having some trouble when trying to use your microphone. Let’s try to sort this out.

However, before that, I would like to ask some questions:

Are you using the Xbox One, Series X or S console?
Is your headset a wireless or wired headset?
Did you try using a different headset to verify if the same behavior occurs?
What procedures you tried to fix this prior to your post creation?

In the meantime, please verify that no enforcement action is active on your account:

How do I fix my mic

    Hello thanks

I have an Xbox 1 s and a wired headset but my controller is a series s controller. I have tried with a different controller which is an Xbox 1 controller and it fixed the problem. However that isn’t my controller so I still have the same problem.

    Thanks for the additional information.

I can suggest some possible solutions based on this information, Reubowski.

    A. Perform a physical power cycle by disconnecting the power cable

“Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Important, Be sure to wait at least 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

Plug the console power cable back in.
Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.”

You can find the same steps in the article below

    B. Downgrade your controller firmware. You can use one of the articles below:

    how to fix muffled mic?

Hello Bray💀 my name is Oskayra, and I will be happy to help you.

Beforehand, it is important that you keep in mind that this is a public community forum, so we are players like you, we are not employees of Microsoft or Xbox. All users help each other with common problems.

I am very sorry for the problem you are going through, with the intention of being able to help you, I did an internal search in Xbox support and I found a publication where it mentions some steps to solve this problem with the microphone and I thought it was good information, which you should take into account. :

If you can hear other members of a group or game but they can't hear you, try these solutions.

Solution 1: Make sure your headphones are not muted

Check that the orange LED next to the mute button is not on.

Solution 2: Power cycle the console
    For help, see: https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/power/restart-or-power-cycle-console

Solution 3: Re-associate your controller with your profile

Press the Xbox  button to open the guide.

    Select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories.

Select your controller and then the (...) button.

Under Assigned to, choose your gamertag.

Solution 4: Check the NAT type of your network

Network Address Translation (NAT) allows you to hide your IP address from devices that are not on your network. For more information about NAT, see the "Current Network Status" section at: https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/connect-network/network-settings

Solution 5: Try your Xbox One chat headset

To test your headphones, start a group (requires an Internet connection) to check your audio:

    Sign in to your console.

Press the Xbox  button to open the guide.

Under Groups & chats, select Start a group. (You don't need to invite anyone for this test.)

Make sure the microphone is not muted in the group chat.

Note: You can use the Y button  on the controller to turn the sound on or off.

Make sure the headphones are not muted and the TV volume is turned up high enough.

Speak into the microphone. If the headphones are working, you will see the ring around your gamer image light up.

If you still can't hear your friends online after starting a party, but you hear sound when using in-game chat or another app like Skype, see: https://support.xbox.com/help/friends-social-activity /parties-chat/troubleshoot-parties

To test the headphones on a Windows PC:

Download Skype on PC if it is not already installed.

Turn on your controller and make sure the Xbox Button  is lit to indicate that it is on.

    Connect headphones to the controller.

Select Tools and then Options. Next, select Audio Settings from the General menu to test the microphone and speakers. Make sure you have selected your Xbox One Headset from the device drop-down list while testing.

Note: When you set up Skype for the first time, you'll be asked to check the sound and video quality.

    Solution 6: Fix connection problems

    Check connectivity: https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/connect-network/network-ports-used-xbox-live
