How to fix my elite series 2 controller double clicking the left stick?

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Elite 2 controller. Does this happen with both wireless and wired connectivity?

As part of our initial troubleshooting, please power cycle your controller: Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds until the controller turns off. Wait a few seconds, and then press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on.

In addition, kindly make sure that you have the latest firmware updates installed:

Connect the controller directly to your console or Windows device using a USB-C cable (or USB to micro-USB cable for Xbox One controllers).

If the controller works properly with a cable connection, continue to the next step.

If your controller turns on when connected with a cable, try updating the controller firmware:

On a Windows PC, you can do this by installing the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store, and then connecting the controller while the app is open.

On an Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide and then select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Controllers & headsets. Select “…” under the controller that you're troubleshooting to check the firmware status.

Another tip is to clean your controller

Dust and debris can build up inside the controller and affect the electrical components. You can try cleaning the controller with isopropyl alcohol, cotton buds, and a hair dryer.

If you've updated the firmware, tried to reset the controller but the button is still not working, then your controller needs to be checked on a hardware level. To set up a replacement order or check your controller's warranty status, go to:

I have the same issue but with the normal elite controller my left stick is drifting and my other buttons are double clicking my firmware version is:2.3.2.2388.0

If its caused by wearing down parts how come I’ve gone through 3 series 2 in less then 6months and every issue is left analogue stick with major stick drift even on highest tension and LB will double click itself even if i only clicked once. And sadly
none of stores ever have this controller in stock so i cant even use my warranty i have with them to get a new one.

I mapped one of the paddles to the left stick for sprinting in games on my Elite. Both the paddle and left stick click have been working fine.

Make sure your button is functioning properly in other games--it could be jammed. Also, double-check your button mapping (Xbox Accessories App) and controller settings (in the game).

i have an original day one 2013 controller at home, that works perfect, every controller since the Xbox one s has come out get either stick drift on the left stick or bumber issues including the original elite.

I have a third party licenced controller, no issues (go figure).

i think as the left stick double as a click in which is mostly used for running in games causes this issue, but only on the official controllers.
