  1. How to extend kinect 2.0 cable

"we recommend that you reconfigure your play space by moving the sensor and console closer together." That is not always easy. I have a large screen TV mounted above a fireplace with all cables running through the wall to a media cabinet that is on an
adjacent wall. The Kinect cord is about 8 feet too short so for now the Kinect cable is hanging down and running across the front of the fireplace. This is fine for now but since that has a very low Wife Approval Factor so at some point she will get sick
of looking at the cord and the Kinect have move to a sub optimal location where it will not really work for well for person tracking. Hope Microsoft makes an extension cable at some point for people who don't have just a typical Xbox under the TV setup.

    :)

    Extend kinect 2.0 cable

I agree. I have my Xbox 360 in the closet and want my Xbox One their also but cannot because of the lack of an extension cable. Clutters the room. I hope Microsoft or someone comes out with one soon.

Agreed. Can't use kinect at all until they do. Living spaces have evolved from the Xbox 360 days. TVs are often on walls and media centers are very often further than nine feet away.

Microsoft needs to address this by doing more than saying to rearrange your living space.

Shocking that this isn't even being addressed other then "move your stuff" smh Also surprised this isn't getting more press notice as I can imagine this effects a number of owners? Not to mention Microsofts awesome response >.<

Just want to re-complain about this. My family is getting really frustrated by Kinect 2.0 as it is behind everyone in the room and does not catch commands as well. Really need an extension cable to get this to the front of the room - 50' would be a good
    start please.

  6. Why do you have it in the back of the room?

  7. Most of us in this forum use a projector in the back of the room, so this limits Kinect to also be in the back of the room until an extension cable is offered.

Ah, I see. Still, I'd like to ask, why a projector? Those don't get you the full spectrum of color possible, or the deepest blacks or brightest brights, or even the sharpest images. Sure the image itself can be huge, but that, IMO, isn't really worth all
of the drawbacks (1 of which you guys are apparently complaining about now, and rightfully so), especially since you can get used to it really quick - I know, I used to own one.

I realize it might sound repetitive since a lot of people have probably already mentioned it, but why not sell the projector, cut your losses, and buy a TV instead? They can get you all of the benefits mentioned above (and then some) and are becoming cheaper
    than ever before.

I can understand you guys wanting an extension cable for the Kinect, because you guys do have a valid argument, but I worry that the size of your demand may not meet the costs that would be necessary to develop, advertise, deliver, and sell the extension
    cable.

To be clear, I'm not against your position, because I think it would be a great thing to have. However, as long as you guys have been requesting it with no official word on the issue, I simply don't think it's going to happen (at least any time soon).

  9. You ask valid questions, and I can only speak one person's opinion: only very recently has a TV been available in 70", 80" & above with the premium (stunning) quality and comparatively attractive pricing that is commonplace today. Just 5 years ago, a projector
was it. About 15 - 20 years ago, Runco was the projector of choice. Line doublers were invented and shown at CES. I was there to witness it.

As long as 70" or 80" is appropriate for your viewing area, a premium monitor will offer the greatest contrast ratio, and overall accuracy. But if you want 100", 110", 120", or any odd size, fee up a projector, select the best screen for the room / ambient
light, and WOW!! You are at the movies.

The way I see it, it is all entertainment - you win either way. Never has the price of admission been this low for truly awesome quality with high dependability in a highly efficient, cool running TV chassis (no bulbs to replace). Slap an Apple TV to it
and your input sources are amazing. All at relatively affordable cost (depends on your budget & your choices, of course).

  10. Your dimensions blow my expectations out of the water, Big. I guess you'd need a big screen to accommodate your big head, aye? How to extend kinect 2.0 cable :p

Just curious what your response adds to the conversation? You say why a projector? One day down the road when you can afford something more would you stick with a 40" screen or a dedicated theater room? Here's another question. Would you rather watch a
    movie/play a game in a 40" tv or on a 120" with a 4k projector and 7.1 surround?

I am perfectly fine with my 4k projector and 120" screen.

  12. Delta, not everyone has a 4k projector - many people just have regular projectors. Besides, I've already learned size isn't everything. Your eyes begin to focus on what's on the screen, not how big it is, so as I said before, eventually you get used to it.
As long as the screen is big enough for you to make out everything, a smaller screen will do just fine. Distance is a factor too. I have no rooms in my house big enough to warrant having a 120" screen - that's so big I wouldn't even be able to concentrate
on everything on the screen at once, which means I would miss things (kind of like sitting in the front row at a movie theater). I'd rather not kill my eyes or neck doing that. How to extend kinect 2.0 cable ;)

How to extend kinect 2.0 cable

Regardless of the size of TV, I think it's important understand that people have dedicated theater room or rooms that they don't want wires running across the wall. Xbox should have thought about this and understand if they want this to be taken seriously
as an entertainment hub then they need to have available the cabling necessary especially if it is proprietary.

I remember someone saying something about Monoprice working on a cable is that dead or are they still in process of development?

Let's see. Chuck thousands of dollars of painstakingly or professionally installed systems for a flat screen based on the advice of Random Internet Guy, or continue to put pressure on Microsoft to release an accessory that is vital to a number of early adopters.
    Hmm, tough choice.

Those of us with a dedicated home theater, or a setup with a whole-home A/V rack tucked away, need an extension cable for the Kinect 2.0. It's as simple as that.
