    How to enable microphone in Cloud Play?


    I am trying to play on my chromebook using cloud play using my controller and bluetooth (Stealth 700 gen 1) headset. I can hear game and party audio fine, but I cannot talk to the party. I tried downloading the xbox app, but the headset entered call mode, and everything became very gritty and hard to hear.

    What can I do to chat on my chromebook that wouldn't cause it to go into call mode? Why can't I chat using the could gaming window??

    We appreciate for your patience.

    We have found out some troubleshooting steps for Google Chrome browser.

    1. Go to a page in the program that contains a webcam exercise.
    2. Click on the lock in the address bar and after that on the 'Site settings' option.
    3. Make sure that for both Camera and Microphone the option 'Allow' is activated.
    4. Reload the page.
    5. (Optional) Sometimes it's necessary to update Chrome.

    To answer your questions:

    1. I am not running windows. I am on a Chromebook, running Chrome OS Version 112.0.5615.134 (Official Build) (64-bit).

    2. I've made sure both my chromebook and bluetooth headset are up to date and working as intended. My headset works fine on my Xbox and on other bluetooth connections (my phone, or a computer call).

    3. Yes, I've updated them as much as possible.

    For your troubleshooting solutions:

    • Everything is up to date.
    • I am very sure audio is coming into my headset, and I am fairly sure that microphone input is being received by the chromebook. When I am on a call, it works as intended.

    I am using my controller and headset on my chromebook both connected via bluetooth. Could that potentially be a problem?

    We understand that your microphone is not working in cloud play. You can only hear other party on the line but they cannot hear your voice.

    Let us check on this together and sort this out to assist your concern. However, before we proceed, we would like to ask few questions about it.

    1. What is the current version and edition of Windows Installed? (Search for WINVER in Windows search to see this)
    2. What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    3. Are your devices and system drivers updated to the latest version?

    These above questions would help us provide the necessary information. Once we have gathered all the information, we will formulate the viable solution to help you with your case.

    For the meantime, let's try some troubleshooting steps and see if it will work for you.

    • First make sure that devices are all updated.
    • Make sure both the input and the output of the chat audio is coming from your headset by connecting it to the Bluetooth first and then connecting to the party. Does your Bluetooth headset have a mic?
    • If you are playing it on the TV make sure the party audio is not coming through the TV - this can cause echo

    Please take note that if you are using an Xbox controller connected to via Bluetooth and you want to connect a wired headset to the controller, audio will not transmit from there.
