How to Edit Xbox Game Clips

Hello all,

With the removal of Upload Studio last Fall, it was announced that editing of Xbox game clips would be moved to the Xbox App. My question is, how do you edit Xbox game clips, as there's no option to do so in the App.

On my Xbox One X itself, I can select a clip and I can trim it, that's it, but even that fails to work. I trim the clip and then save it, I'm prompted not to leave the screen, and then my display goes black. I thought my TV had shut off at first, but that wasn't the case. Pressing the Xbox Button on my Controller brings up the Guide as per normal, and closing the Guide without selecting anything then causes the Xbox to drop back to the main Home Screen, no edited clip has been saved or anything.

So outside of uploading a clip to OneDrive and editing it with other software on my PC, which to my knowledge means I won't be able to get the clip back to Xbox LIVE, how exactly do I edit game clips now?

I recorded a clip from a game of FIFA21 Xbox series edition and I experience the same kind of issues with the lag in your clip. Don't know how it happens.

With respect to disc space, I actually have 120 GB free. I tried doing a clip trim last summer just for fun using the base OS DVR, and at the time I had less than half my HDD full, and the same thing occurred.

Of course Upload Studio was available at the time and worked properly, so I simply used that instead.

I did find the support article about using Xbox Console Companion on PC to trim clips, but of course you can’t re-upload to Xbox LIVE from there now.

Regarding the clip trim issue, I would suggest freeing some space on your console by clearing the Mac address and saved locale games as they might be the cause of the issue. However, Currently Xbox Game Clips edit is only available on Windows 10 not on consoles.

Have you tried doing the following

Manage your game clips on Xbox One

When you make game clips using the Xbox One capturing feature, you can use the Upload Studio app to view and edit them. You can work from game clips you’ve captured, or you can record video or audio commentary about your clips using your Kinect sensor.

Note Upload Studio is not installed to your Xbox One console by default. You can download it for free from the
Microsoft Store.

To find and edit your clips:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Broadcast & capture.
Select Recent captures. If your clip isn’t a recent one, select See All.
Select the clip that you want to edit, and then select Edit in Upload Studio.
If Upload Studio is already installed, it will open to your clip and you can begin editing. See Editing videos with Upload Studio to learn how
to edit your videos.

Here’s another way to find your clips:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Go to Broadcast & capture, and then select Capture > Manage Captures.
The default filter shows everything already published on Xbox Live.
To see clips you’ve captured but not yet uploaded, select the filter On Xbox Live and choose On this Xbox.

Upload studio is an app you can download to the Xbox to edit and upload game clips. Try downloading it man and see if you can play your clips or upload them through there.

i would also look up how to clear the cache of your Xbox one, that might help
