    How to download purchased games and DLC on the Games for Windows LIVE Marketplace


    I have an old email address with many video games associated to it on the GFWL. I have tried installing it on Microsoft Windows 10 Home x64 but it gives a connection error. Is there any way of getting around this? I have lots of games on there that I lost access to such as Gears of War

    Hi,

    When you purchase a Games for Windows LIVE Retail game the activation of that game is done from the game installer. You can't use that key in the Games for Windows LIVE Marketplace client and download the game from there. If you ever lose your game's DVD's
    or they break then you'd need to either borrow a copy from a friend, purchase a used copy of the game discs (look towards eBay for just the game discs).

    In the future, if you wish to purchase Games for Windows LIVE titles try to purchase them on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace via Xbox.com so that you can always re-download them without an issue using the Games for Windows LIVE Marketplace.

    Reactivate already installed game ?

    Make sure you have Games for Windows Marketplace installed and then redeem the code through there. Then go download the DLC from the marketplace.
