  1. How to disable TFA/verification code every time I sign into Microsoft Account on Minecraft...

    Hi all,

I recently bought two copies of Minecraft for my children, who each have a Nintendo Switch. We are all linked to Nintendo Online, and now we all have Microsoft Accounts (and Microsoft Family) setup too.

Putting aside how buggy/often the game crashes generally speaking - and how buggy the local/Nintendo friend system is on this game (as opposed to a game like Stardew Valley for which it works flawlessly) - the process is made
more painful by the unncessary step of signing in manually to the Microsoft account so often.

After clicking the button to sign into their Microsoft account, the Minecraft game then loads a code on screen, and each child needs to to go to a nearby laptop, go to https://aka.ms/remoteconnect and enter the code shown, before they can sign into the MS
account in Minecraft and then finally play together.

This step is completely unnecessary and ruins what would otherwise be an enjoyable gaming experience. The amount of hoops needed to get this game working online is unbelievable. Any help appreciated.

    :)

My XBOX360 says my email or password is invalid.

When Two-Step Verification is enabled u have to verify your account every time you log in using a code sent to your phone or email.

    .

The xbox is unable to prompt you for this code at this time.

    .

To connect using Two-Step Verification you need to generate an application password on account.live.com and use that to sign on to the xbox. your normal password will just give you an incorrect password error message and possibly a status code 8015d002

    .

disabling Two-Step Verification works as well.

How can I block password change requests to my Microsoft account?

    Hello Nicholas Rollin,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

To block password change requests to your Microsoft account, you need to enable two-step verification on your account. This will add an extra layer of security to your account and prevent unauthorized access. To enable two-step verification, follow these steps:

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/security and sign in with your Microsoft account.

    2. Under Two-step verification, select Turn on two-step verification.

    3. Follow the instructions to set up your verification methods. You can choose to receive a code via email, phone, or app.

    4. Once you have set up your verification methods, you will need to enter a code every time you sign in to your Microsoft account or change your password.

Please see: How to use two-step verification with your Microsoft account - Microsoft Support

By enabling two-step verification, you will block password change requests to your Microsoft account unless you have access to your verification methods. I hope this helps you secure your account and enjoy your Xbox experience.

    Have a great day!

Why wont the verification codes send?

    Hi Plex,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues logging in to Minecraft. I understand that you don't receive the security code that's being sent to you. Are you referring to a mobile or email?

If email, please check your junk email folder for a message from a Microsoft account, and use the code sent to you. Valid verification codes come from an @accountprotection.microsoft.com email address.

Mark @accountprotection.microsoft.com as a trusted sender to receive your verification code in your inbox.

Does your alternate email address end in @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, or @msn.com?

If so, you're using one Microsoft account to verify another Microsoft account. This can make it tricky to keep track of which one you're signed in to. When you sign in to the second account (to get the code sent to that email), most browsers automatically sign you out of the first account (the one that's actually requesting the code).

    To get your verification code:

Using a browser in privacy mode, sign in with the first account. This lets you stay signed in to both accounts at the same time.

When you're prompted to enter the verification code that was sent to your alternate email address, don't close the browser window.

Open a new window in privacy mode. Ctrl + Shift + P is the shortcut for InPrivate Browsing in Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer. If you're using a different browser, check that browser's help for info about privacy mode.

In the new window, sign in to your alternate email account and look for the message from the Microsoft account team. Copy or write down the verification code from the message.

Return to the window that is asking you for the verification code. Enter the code and follow the instructions.

    Regards,

    Alvaro

    Logging in

    Thank you for your response.

The verification codes feature is an extra layer of security to prevent your account from being hacked. No worries, once you have disabled the two-factor authentication you will not be asked for another set of codes every time you sign in.

    To turn it off,

Go to Security settings and sign in with your Microsoft account.

Under the Two-step verification section, choose Set up two-step verification to turn it off.

    Follow the instructions.

Also, please make sure to set your sign-in preference on your console as "No barriers" to access your console with no code restrictions by following the instructions above.
