How to disable MS Rewards notifications on PC

I have switched notifications for MS Rewards on the PC Xbox Game app off when the option appeared around the start of the year but unfortunately it was broken then and still is now (works perfectly on Android), it disables the visual pop up but the audio still plays and the notifications still appear as alerts. It was irritating when it was just one notification at a time since I think it's relevant notification from a person but they've been steadily building to the point they're a major annoyance, tonight in just half an hour of gaming I received 14 of them in a row and another couple just after I finished as well.

For clarification, these are the ones that say 'Don't miss out. These points won't claim themselves' with the option to get points or dismiss.

And another two just while writing this post, has anyone managed to disable these without disabling normal Xbox notifications? I've double checked the setting and they're definitely still set to off in the app and there's still no graphic pop-up but it's not stopping the other parts.

How to disable MS Rewards notifications on PC Xbox app (option in settings does not work)

The only solution I've found is to opt out of Microsoft Rewards which while annoying to lose the points, it's a lot less annoying than being spammed with notifications and it seems unlikely Microsoft are going to fix the broken option for disabling them any time soon.
Thank you for this. I was able to stop the notifications. The setting to turn them off via the Windows Xbox and Game bar apps does not work at all. Opting out does stop it from spamming me.

It is annoying and I don't care about your reward points!!! Stop asking me to redeem them! When are you going to add basic option to FULLY disable them (without disabling chat notification from friends) that actually WORKS!?

I opted out of the points scheme but it's not stopped the notifications, instead I get a stream of notifications telling me I could be earning points if I join the scheme. It drives me nuts so for now I'm finding the only solution is not to play any MS store games.

I'd hoped for a bit better than a bot response from Microsoft but oh well. I'd already said I'd disabled the notifications so I don't know why that's being asked and since it's server side problem, it doesn't matter what version of Windows I'm running nor is uninstalling/installing going to make any difference. It will simultaneously spam my W10 and W11 devices with these notifications even though they are all set not to show the notification at all.

The only solution I've found is to opt out of Microsoft Rewards which while annoying to lose the points, it's a lot less annoying than being spammed with notifications and it seems unlikely Microsoft are going to fix the broken option for disabling them any time soon.

    Hello JohnMcL7,

We hope you are doing well. Thank you for posting in Xbox Forums. We are happy to help.

We understand that you are trying to disable Microsoft Rewards notification. Let us check on this together so you will get back to gaming.

This might need to be troubleshoot. May we know if you have tried to update your PC and update Xbox Game Bar, Xbox app, Gaming Services to see if the issue still re-occurs? Although you mentioned Xbox app not Xbox Game Bar and that you have tried to turn off notification by settings. May we confirm if you went to this part: Xbox Game Bar > Settings > Notifications > under General untick Notify me when I earn Rewards points?

If you haven't tried those steps then we would like to ask for the following information.

    1. Just to confirm, are you using Windows + G shortcut (Xbox Game Bar) to see the Social tab or using Xbox app?
    2. Please provide the Xbox app version and the gaming services version that can be found on Xbox app > select Profile picture > Settings > About.
    3. What is your Windows version and edition? To check, please type WINVER on searchbar and select run command.

      • Note: Please make sure you know your credentials before proceeding to the next steps. If in doubt, try to manually sign in here: Microsoft Account | Home.
        • Log out from Xbox app and Microsoft Store. Make sure there is no account remain logged into those apps.
        • Repair Xbox app and Game Bar. Guide - Repair apps and programs in Windows.
        • Try reinstalling the Gaming Services package on your Windows 10 device:
          • Right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
          • In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:

            Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
          • Then, wait for the process to finish. Restart and disable all antivirus, antimalware, VPN, proxy, firewall and PC Optimizer. Please update us on how it went.
We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.
