  1. How to deal with dust in console?

I've been living in an apartment that turns off the AC in like October and doesn't turn it back on until May, so I'm forced to keep my windows up for several months. As a result, I'm afraid I've gotten dust inside the console and I would like to attempt
to clean it. I know opening up the console would void the warranty and so I'd like to avoid it if I can, but would using a vacuum cleaner to attempt to remove some of the dust? I'd be using a hose (obviously), and in theory I can't see what the problem would
be, but I wanted to run it by folks who probably know a bit more about it than I do just to be safe.

    :)

I really didnt mean to start a whole thing about the moral aspect of how to raise my kid. I appreciate the input nonetheless. I talked to xbox and they encourage kids to be on xbox live. However, there are many precautions I can rake that I should have
taken. I will now. Melonhead Jones kinds said it best for me. I just wanted to know if there was some way these kids could be punished and not do it to another kid. He was proud of his progress and it devastated him. Thats all.

As i have said, report them through the dashboards either under harassment OR impersonating support staff, and the enforcement team will review ALL text and voice communications that they had with the account. It may take time, as the EFT gets thousands
to tens of thousands of reports a day.

  5. I have a cousin who's never cleaned his Xbox 360 and it still works fine.. I do think dust can cause problems with the disc drive if the laser somehow gets a lot of dust on it, though.

Hire a maid and get them to dust it with a micro-fibre cloth every hour.

I've had my Xbox 360 slim 250gb console since late 2010 and it's still going well but if I examine through the vent holes, I can see some dust inside the hardware. But there isn't much you can do about it, unless you want to open up... the console. Some
say try a vacuum but you run the risk of your vacuum having too much suction power that it may damage the internal circuitry. You can't avoid dust, it's part of life.

I've been gaming since the NES and have never even thought about cleaning dust out of a console. I've never had any problems with them either (besides RROD on 360.) Some people worry about stuff too much.

I had my slim since it came out and one day recently I had my friend open it up for me and surprisingly there was hardly any dust in it. I wouldn't worry about it.

Canned air works great. And dust is every piece of electronics worst enemy. Dust insulates like a winter coat which builds up heat and melts things. Dust=bad!!

  10. To those who took my question seriously, many thanks. To those who believed my concerns are just crazy, allow me to explain further.

For whatever reason, the area in which I live had crazy amounts of dust. So much so that, if you completely wiped down the table top that morning, by the end of the day it had a considerably thick coat of dust on it. The buildup of these exorbitant amounts
of dust over several months' time is what has me concerned.

At this point I'm still heavily considering the vacuum, despite the risks, but Camhawk mentioned compressed air. I've thought about that, but at the same time I've heard that just stirs up the dust that's already in there and can cause even more problems.
You say you've tried this on an Xbox one and it worked well?

@Hayes Cooper19. Compressed air should work just fine. I live on a dirt road and in the summer things can get dusty. I've always used a can of compressed air and a small vacuum to catch the dust as it flows out. Blew out the power brick on my 360 (First
time ever in years.) and was surprised at how much dust came out. Never new the 360 power brick had a fan in it.

    Peace, J.R.

  15. Just an idea so as is.

I dont own an X1, but if I were to clean one without opening it. I would buy a plunger (used to unclog drains) remove the rubber part, and bor a hole through it so that a v cleaner hose will fit inside. Place that contraption over the fan vents, turn the
console upside down and turn on the v cleaner. While its sucking I would shoot canned air into the other vents to help release those dust bunnies and continue with thr process until all vents were free of dust.

Again. Sounds crazy enough to work. But posted AS IS ... So what you do is on you not me.
