How to connect Xbox’s together on same network

The consoles are on different floors of the house, so no way to wire connect them. I’m just interested in playing multiplayer games offline so we both have a full screen to play on not a half screen. Will this work or do they need to be online?

How to connect Xbox’s together on same network

    Hi there!

You may simply connect them to your network normally. Either wirelessly or via wired connection. It's recommended that you use the wired connection for stability.

For network issues, check the troubleshooting steps or guide through the link below:

How to connect Xbox’s together on same network

    Hi Beth,

Are you able to connect both consoles to a wireless network? You would need to be connected to Xbox Live to access online multiplayer/matchmaking, but you can always play offline if you just want to play local co-op (split screen).

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to launch a lot of games offline due to DRM (Digital rights management), particularly with Game Pass titles as the license needs to be recognised. This shouldn’t be an issue for any owned games that you purchased digitally or have on disk.

Also, are there any specific games that you’re referring to?

    LAN

    Hi there,

as far as I know you can't directly connect your console to a different console with a ethernet cable and play together, you will have to use at least a hub (or switch) that allows you guys to connect to the same network and possible required to connect
to Xbox Live etc and then play together via Live.

Since you both will be on the same network, it might require some additional setup, which may be dependant on the networking hardware used.

    Let us know the results

    Xbox 360 system link

Hey RemovedThyme737! You need to be on the same network to utilize system link. To allow the two to play together, you would need to use Xbox Live and connect through the internet. Thanks!
