HOW TO... Connect my sons live account to mine.

Probably been a question asked a thousand times, but I'm admitting defeat. I have active gold membership/ profile and cannot find a way to create a linked profile for my son to use it too. I had created a new account for him with an email and it shows xbox
live on his profile but he needs to purchase membership, so I'm guessing all i've done is create a new stand alone account. I have 4 kids and they all want to play their mates on minecraft and I simply don't have £6,000 to throw at microsoft in membership
money.

I can't fathom how to link it to mine and am putting my hands up and surrendering. Surely it shouldn't be this difficult and I feel I am looking too deep into it and missing the way forward, so now I am asking for the help of the community. Of which, any
received would be gratefully appreciated.

Connecting a child account

I need to connect my son's account to mine in order for my son to access his LIVE. He cannot connect to mine through his account because there's always some sort of error message. He's paid for a year and hasn't been able to get on ever since he disconnected
from the old parent account

 

My son can't connect to the XBox 360 since he enabled 2-factor authentication

After my suggestion, my son enabled two-factor authentication on his Live account.

Now, he undusted the Xbox 360 and wanted to connect. Because it does not support two-factor authentication, he needs an application password. Apparently, after comparing his account and mine, he can't create app passwords with his!?

Why? How can he connect to the Xbox 360 now?

 

I'm not sure you can do that even with family settings on. I think you have to be separate memberships.

 

Thanks, I feel you may be right. I wonder why though? If I sign into mine and he uses it then what's the point of not being able to have his own? I would just like him to have his own so I can set the restrictions and keep the profiles separate, for other
reasons.

I can't find the specific answers to this subject anywhere so I wonder if there is something that I haven't read somewhere?

It's quite frustrating not knowing, so hopefully this thread might shed some light.

 

Sorry to say this but what you want to do is not possible on the Xbox 360. Each account requires its own Gold membership if you want to go online.

The Xbox One has a feature where a Gold account can set a console as 'Home', which enables all accounts on the console to make use of Gold features.
