  1. How to connect external hard drive?

Sadly, I'm getting pretty close to running out of space on my Xbox One, it's gotten to the point that i've uninstalled two digital games to make room. That's ridiculous, so I finally decided to use my external hard drive.

I've been using this hard drive to back up stuff from my Mac, i'm aware that if I connect to my Xbox it will be completely deleted, and that's fine. My question is; How to I connect it? I've plugged it into my Xbox and waited for it to be recognized, but
it never happens. Is there something wrong with it? It works fine on my Mac, can I not use it with the Xbox since it's been formatted for a Mac? I've included a link to the exact hard drive that I have if that helps. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated,
as I desperately need the space.

    Problema wireless

Ciao prova a fare questo se hai un hard disk

Wireless Networking: You may be unable to detect wireless networks with an external hard drive attached.

Workaround: While the console is off, disconnect the external hard drive, power on the console, connect to the wireless network, and reconnect the external hard drive.

  5. I've tried that, the formatting pop-up never happens. I'll try again though.

How to connect external hard drive?

the Xbox will format it again, not sure if doing it on a Mac will make a different, don't know what file system it would do it in.

when i got my external, i formatted it on my work laptop that is running Windows.

plug the harddrive in, make sure you are using the usb3.0 cable, then fully shut down the console, not instant on but fully off, then start it up again, go to settings-storage and select the drive for games and apps.

  10. @Farscape247 I did that and the external hard drive shows, but when I select it only gives me the option to "view contents", when I select view contents it takes me to the media player, when the media player opens it says "no devices found".

  11. I would format it on it on a Mac or PC making sure it's all one large partition since some external drives come with hidden partitions containing drivers and other software.

I would double check to make sure it is a USB 3 cable. I had a friend that got burnt by that same issue.

How to connect external hard drive?

It may be because it's formatted to HFS+, which is the file system that OS X uses, and the Xbox One doesn't recognise that. I suspect that if you format it to NTFS then the Xbox will see it, but that's just an educated guess.

  14. The file system a mac uses won't work on windows (which Xbox uses a version of windows) you have to reformat it from your computer first with a NFTS format, then it should work. and everything will be deleted. just use the disk utility on your mac to do
    it.

EDIT: I use both macs and PCs at work and some drives formatted for a mac, wont' show up on windows at all, it'll recognize the external enclosure but it can't see the disc.

  15. Will I be able to format it with a NFTS format with a Mac?

I googled it and on the Apple forum they said you can't.
