How to change XBOX settings

Contact Xbox Customer Support and get ahold of a representative to look into your account with you.

Note: Even if the date of birth or age has been changed on the Microsoft Account itself the changes do not get applied to the Xbox Profile. Your Xbox Profile Date of Birth will keep the account set as a child account until the originally entered
Date of Birth becomes 18 years old,

If you have changed your date of birth from the one you originally entered, when making your account, the Xbox will still see that first birthdate. There is not a lot you can do, other than wait for it to naturally turn 18

When you say you are not able to do anything does this include signing into your account?

If this is the case then the DOB when the account was originally setup was under 18 and still has not reached its 18th birthday.

When an account is setup even if you change the DOB on the account the xbox profile will still see it as under 18 and not allow you to do anything xbox related till you are added back to a family as a child account.

The reason for this is so that children do not just go in and change the DOB on their accounts without the parent knowing about it and getting past the restrictions.

The reason that a child account has to be in a family as a child is by law a child can not enter into a contract (agreeing to the MS terms of service/Code of conduct is a contract) so a child account has to be in a family with an adult account attached to
it so that the adult account can agree to the TOS/COC.

So basically with all that said you will have to get an adult to sign in at account.microsoft.com/family and add you as a child to their family.

Please sign in to account.xbox.com/settings and ensure none of the multiplayer permissions are blocked.

Note that you can't access the link if you are a child account, since you will need an adult account from the family group to change the settings on your behalf!
