    How to change gamertag on xbox.com?


    Hi,

    I have been trying to change my gamertag through xbox.com.

    The tag I want is available, and I try to claim it. The payment form tells me it costs $9.99 (I don't live in the US) and asks for payment information so I try to give my credit card details.

    Unfortunately, the payment form is glitched. The country dropdown is locked on United States and is greyed out - as I said, I don't live in the US so it's impossible for me to provide any payment details and I can't change my tag.

    How do I fix this?

    Hi there.

    What do you want to do? I just want to clarify here. Do you want to change the GamerTag name, or the actual gamer profile?

    I'll give you brief instructions for either.

    ~Change Name~

    For this, there is a great Support article
    here     which will guide you through the entire process.

    ~Change Profile~

    To switch gamer profiles on your phone, you will need to switch Microsoft Accounts.

    The relevant section is titled "I’ve entered the wrong Microsoft Account and now can’t get my Gamertag, Help!" - it gives you instructions on switching accounts.

    Change your gamertag through a web browser
    Here’s how:

    1. Go to the Change gamertag page at
      account.xbox.com      .
    2. Sign in using the Microsoft account email address and password associated with your gamertag.
    3. Enter your new gamertag, and then select Check Availability.
    4. Once you find an available gamertag, click Claim it.

      Note If your gamertag was created for you when you initially signed up for Xbox (meaning you did not choose it yourself), you can change it one time for free. Additional Xbox gamertag changes cost extra.

      If you created your own gamertag at signup and want to change it, you will be charged (fee varies by region and currency).

    You can also go to Microsoft Account page to add and manage your payment options. This could be related to he region your Microsoft account is associated with.
