I have a Xbox Series S and want to buy Mortal Kombat vs DC universe but I can’t buy it in the Microsoft store or on Xbox marketplace. Is there any way for me to get it digitally or do I have to buy it physically and have a series X

If it's not available in the store, then it's not available digitally. You would have to buy it on disc and use a console with a disc drive.
