how to assign xbox gold subscription to child account?

there is not an option to share subscriptions in one household.

But since this is for 2 consoles, there is an alternate option.

You can use the Home console feature. If for example one of your kids accounts has a Gold subscription that account is able to use the Gold features on any console that is connected to Xbox Live.

That account is also able to assign one Xbox One console as their Home console, which will result that their Gold subscription is shared on that Home console, allowing other profiles on that Home console to use Gold features too.

This will also be the case for other subscriptions and for digital purchased games.

In your situation, if child A has a Gold console, and assigns console 1 as their Home console, child B (and any other profile) will be able to use Gold features on console 1.

Child A will be able to use Gold features on any other console as long as the console is connected to Xbox Live (Internet)

Keep in mind that if their is a Service issue or internet issue, digital purchased games can only be played on the account's Home console.

Thanks for the prompt responses. So are you all saying I can't share my xbox Gold with two child accounts, but i can with one child account. This is how it has been working but I want to limit screen time for my kids and this is why I setup a second Child
account.

Could I move my gold subscription to one of the child accounts and share it this way?

I really don't want to purchase a second gold subscription.

depending on the console you are on. If you are on a Xbox One console (and the kids are on the same console) then you should also be able to share your subscription via the Home console setting.

That will allow the child accounts to benefit from your Gold subscription and play online via that Home console.

If they are playing on multiple Xbox One consoles then they will need a Gold subscription per child account.

Regarding the question regarding the child account having a subscription, your passkey (and family settings) and how that will work will remain unchanged regarding what account has a Gold subscription.

Just for clarification, is this a child account?

Is there issues when attempting to buy a Xbox live gold subscription?

If this is a " Parent and Child account" then the child account would attempt to buy it then would need permission from the adult account.

If the child has no safety lock on purchases then the account may purchase the Xbox live gold with no issue.

The Xbox live gold does not have to be bought as a gift.

If the parent account has gold set it as the "Home console" so the gold may be shared to other users on the console, if this is a Xbox one.
