    could anyone help, i am an xbox newbie, how do i give permission for my son to accept and make friends request. At the minute my settings dont allow it. I can find anyway of adjusting them.

    What you need to do is have your son go to his alerts on his Xbox one and accept your friend request. Hope this helps

    I believe that to add a member to the Family they need to have an Xbox Live profile.

    However, you could then change the parental controls to restrict what your son could do - eg, not allow him to play online, not able to accept friend requests or to communicate with people other than friends.
