  1. How to Address a No-Info Xbox Live Communications Suspension?

I received an Xbox Live Communications Suspension notice, today. There was no edifying information provided in the email and nothing showed up in my enforcement history, so there is no way for me to even file a complaint/rebuttal. In fact, it says, "Congratulations,
you have a perfect record." Neither was I informed as to how long the suspension would be in effect. I take my reputation very seriously, and this suspension system seems rather unfair, being totally one-sided. At the very least, all parties should be heard
before a decision is made. I am going to take a shot in the dark, here, and say it might have been some comment made while playing Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege; although, I honestly can't think of what it might have been. I do know, though, that it can
get a bit frustrating when your team mates keep purposely shooting you at the start of the game...it actually happened to me three games in a row, yesterday. The fourth game, the entire OPFOR team killed each other. There was no use even playing. It could
just as well have been a prank from a friend, I'm guessing. So, is there no means to determine the alleged transgression or length of suspension? Is there no means to defend your reputation? Thanks and Merry Christmas!

    :)

How to Address a No-Info Xbox Live Communications Suspension?

    Hello Toxic,

When you created your account you agreed to the
    Microsoft terms of service
. You are using a service provided by Microsoft, where they have regulations and rules (ie. Code of conduct) if one person finds a message offensive they have the right to report this and then the Enforcement team will look it
over and if it violates the code of conduct they will issue the appropriate suspension/ban. When you use any services, there are rules and regulations that need to be followed. The code of conduct is in place to protect all gamers. Sorry for the suspension
that you have got. If it is a 24 hour suspension they do not warrant a review, due to it takes at least 2 days for enforcement to review a suspension. They limit informing you of what was said against who, for the sake of retaliation, which is another breach
    of the code of conduct.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Brad

I understand why you would say that, but the truth is, the way the community is being run is NOT fair for everyone. It is certainly not fair to me. I don't have any idea what I said that was so offensive. Maybe I just offended someone because
I beat them in a game, or because I called them out for poor gaming practices, or because they misunderstood the context of a comment, or any number of reasons... I would actually like to get involved in helping Xbox Live advance more fair and respected practices,
that they can be proud of, instead of hiding behind a curtain of "authoritarian self-righteousness". I think because so many youth are gamers, Xbox Live has come to believe they can walk over their rights. This attitude just creates more autocratic behaviors
in adults. Wouldn't it be much better to introduce a system where all voices are heard?

I understand why you would think that , but the community has to be run this way to make it fair for everyone , and to make sure that proper language is being used

    Hi Brad,

Thanks for stepping into this discussion. You obviously don't know me personally, but I would like to assure you that I do fully appreciate the need for rules and regulations, and further, I would add that if rules are not enforceable they are not rules
at all. I also absolutely believe every person should be guaranteed the right to report an offense without threat of retaliation. Where we verge is with the rights of the accused...apparently there are none under the current Microsoft Terms of Service, and
I would offer that this glaring omission should be reconsidered. There must be a way to explain the offense to the accused without naming the accuser, thus giving the accused the opportunity to defend himself/herself. That is the democratic system under
which I was raised. I understand that Microsoft is a business and perhaps it is too costly/time consuming/complicated an endeavor, but on an ethical level, fairness for all is always well worth the effort. So, please, consider what I have said and at least
address this issue at your next policy meeting. I would guess there are a lot of young gamers out there, if not most, who have given up on even trying to defend themselves because they have been made to feel impotent, which is really disheartening because
it affects their maturing attitudes toward society as a whole. Too, as in life, I'm sure there are a lot of people making reports who are motivated by their own egos, ignorance/misunderstandings, or other personal reasons. While Microsoft is a business,
it reaches a large swath of our youth through gaming, and, as such, through its policies has a unique opportunity to affect and empower them in a positive manner.

I know you are trying to help, but here is the problem with what you are saying. Think of it as a court of law. Imagine someone accuses you of an infraction and you are convicted/sentenced without 1) being told what the specific infraction that you allegedly
committed was, and 2) having no recourse to defend yourself or protect your damaged reputation. Wouldn't you be crying foul from your prison cell? I hope you would. Speaking in platitudes of moral superiority while not giving a person a chance to defend
themselves...I would say that is the VERY definition of an autocratic system. I am totally onboard that we all want a pleasant gaming experience. I would also fully agree that rules are necessary and must be enforceable. However, those two factors are not
in the fore here. The issue is fairness and giving a person the right to know exactly what they are accused of and being able to defend themselves. How can a person living in a democratic society think otherwise? Finally, I would question your premise that
it is not a matter of age suppressing youth because I do not believe this system would stand if most gamers were adults and felt confident enough to stand up for themselves. I do really appreciate your replying, though, as I believe this is a discussion that
    is well worth having.
