How to add friends to a child account?

Only adult accounts can add friends etc.

Child accounts can not add friends, search for gamertags etc without the permission from an adult account.

If you have a child account you will not be able to add friends. The parent account will need to add the friends/approve them before you will be able to play with them.

I am on a windows computer and I still have no idea how to change my child's Xbox one privacy settings.

As long as you have properly
configured your child's account, you would simply need to follow these steps to add a someone to your Friends list:

1. Press the Xbox button on your controller.
2. Go left to the People tab, and scroll down to select
   Find someone.
3. Enter the individuals Gamertag.
4. There should be a section that reads Everyone On Xbox, your friend should appear there when you search for them.
   
5. Once you find them you should have the option to add them to your Friends list.

I am pretty sure I did this step and found her friends, but when I select them, the information that would normally show up on the next page does not show anything. I can click add, but it does nothing.

I tried logging into the family account to double check I allowed her to add friends, but I can not access this either. Is the microsoft xbox server down? Are there issues here we don't know? I really can not be sure of anything since I just tried this with
my youngest, but had similar issues yesterday.
