    How do I get access to my video files from my external HDD. Also, how do I stream video from my Mac to Xbox? Super bummed I could do this with my 360 and not the One... Help! How to access video files from External Hard Drive and DLNA? Mac to Xbox? :)

    How do I connect my external hard drive to Xbox 1 so I can play videos stored on it?

    I used to be able to wirelessly connect my Xbox 360 to an external hard drive and play stored video files from it through the console. Can I do this on Xbox1? If yes how?

    How to connect external hard drive?

    The file system a mac uses won't work on windows (which Xbox uses a version of windows) you have to reformat it from your computer first with a NFTS format, then it should work. and everything will be deleted. just use the disk utility on your mac to do
    it.

    EDIT: I use both macs and PCs at work and some drives formatted for a mac, wont' show up on windows at all, it'll recognize the external enclosure but it can't see the disc.

    Sorry, what you are asking isn't possible. You can not transfer files to an external hard drive while it is connected to an Xbox One. However, the Xbox One does fully support video streaming via DLNA, which industry standard now. So, you can stream video
    from a computer, tablet or mobile device with the appropriate DLNA streaming software. To that, you need to hook up your external hard drive to that device rather than your console.

    If you want the ability to copy, move or delete files that you are going to be viewing via your Xbox One, you'll need to connect your hard drive to a media streaming device. Which can be a PC, tablet or other type of supported set-top box. Android based TV
    boxes can do this really cheaply, or you can build your own using a Rasberry Pie. device.

    What you probably need to do is to leave the hard drive attached to a PC and use a DLNA client to access it with the Xbox. However that still probably won't help in the other room unless there is a device hooked up to it that will work as a DLNA client to
    access the hard drive on the PC.

    Not sure what you wanted to do here, could you elaborate?

    As for external hard drives, you can't partition them for use as both external storage for games and for use with your Mac or PC. You can use an external hard drive on the Xbox One as a media drive, though.

    If you format an external hard drive for Xbox One games storage, the whole drive is formatted and the file system is changed.

    Do you have an external hard drive connected to the console? If so, try downloading games without the external hard drive connected to the console.

    Also, try cleaning the MAC from the console and restarting your internet devices for a few minutes.

    Clean your console's MAC

    Network Settings> Advanced Settings> MAC Address and Clear.

    Hey everyone. I have a 1.5 TB western digital external hard drive. I plugged it into my xbox one and the format option came up but my finger slipped and pressed back button. When i go to manage storage in the settings, the external hard drive doesnt show
