Apparently, the Xbox YouTube app are very incompetent.

Here's this:. I mainly use my brand account of Google. YouTube app on Xbox simply refuses to play the nsfw videos on Xbox. I can view nsfw videos on website and phone no problem. It's just the app that's the problem.

I go to Google account, changed the date of birth, then signed out of YouTube on both website and app, then signed in on YouTube app first. Tried to view, didn't work.

So, I signed out of YouTube on both website and app first, then went to Google account and changed date of birth yet again, then signed in both YouTube website and app. Tried to view nsfw videos and still DOESN'T WORK.

Please help me on this because it just simply doesn't work and I'm over 18+. Yes, Microsoft/Google NEEDS to fix to allow brand account to view 18+ videos on YouTube if user's Google account has date of birth being beyond 18 years old. This is just stupid.

Here are some steps you can follow to turn off age restrictions on the YouTube app:

Open the YouTube app on your mobile device.

Tap on your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen.

Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.

Scroll down and select "Restricted Mode Filtering".

Toggle the switch to the off position to disable restricted mode.

If you have a passcode enabled for restricted mode, you will need to enter the passcode to turn off the feature.

If you are still encountering age restrictions after following these steps, it may be because your Google account is registered as a child account. In this case, you will need to ask a parent or guardian to log in to the account and update the age settings to allow full access to YouTube.

Thank you, but this restricts the YouTube app entirely if I lower the age limit. I just wanted to be able to set it so the restricted mode can't be turned off so it will block inappropriate content.

If you are logged into your YouTube account while browsing the YouTube app, age restrictions might apply to the signed-in YouTube/Google+ account. If not, then it is probably getting age details from your Xbox Live account.

Either way, you'll need to make sure your birthdate settings are consistent between accounts and you are of legal age to watch restricted videos.

Why don't you use youtube on internet explorer? It works beautifully and is not age restricted like the useless app is.

I had this problem, and for me, it was because the YT app for xbox cannot distinguish between a main YouTube account versus a "branded" account linked to the same Google account.

I was using a secondary nickname branded account for my Xbox app, and it would skip or age restrict everything regardless of the " restriction setting on/off ". Once I removed the branded tag and started using the original Google account tag, it was normal. Of course your Google personal data must have correct age. If you do not see a section to enter your age, odds are it's a branded or linked account to an original Google account.
