How slow is this thing

How slow is this thing at installing a game I have just got a xbox one and to say its slow at installing a game is a joke I have Dragon Age 3 Inquisition on pre-order for the xbox one if I get the game on the Friday it is out I may get to play it that sunday
with how slow the thing is at installing games its a joke.

Why my computer is SLOW?

the reason for a Computer being slow can't easily be determined since it can be caused by a number of things.

and there won't be an easy answer.

First thing to check is, if there are a lot of programs that are constantly running.

Also check if the hard drive is running out of space, since that can result in a computer to slow down too.

Another cause can be the hardware itself.

Same thing after today's update wordament is SUPER slow. WTH MS, how could you break such a basic game?

 

are you DLing it??? what is your ISP speed... are you installing from disc.. how is your ISP speed as games update at same time you install

For me.. a game like BF4 took me maybe 15 minutes to DL the entire thing... and was able to start about 7 minutes in...

 

I've downloaded quite a few games now but whether it was a full digital download or installing a game from disk plus downloading any updates no game has taken more than about 20-25 minutes to finish.

If your internet is not the quickest you can try installing the game ( from disk ) whist not connected to Xbox LIVE, once finished connect online and download any updates, this has helped speed things up for others in the past.

I've done nothing but digital and I can usually play my games within 15 min of starting the download. Are you wired or wireless?

 

You say your stated speed is 20Mb.. but what is it really.... If you have multiple devices connected...especially when going wireless... your 20 will dip to under 10... Also you location matters.. if you are the sticks it will be slower..

goto settings, network and do a detailed check of your speed... I bet anything you are registering a 5Mb

 

No my speed is 20Mb and its wired and that is after I go to settings, network and do a detailed check of my speed and its 20Mb. and I am just down the road from the telephone exchange.

 

How many devices are you using while downloading? You can disconnect from the internet while installing a disc based game . It helps some people, the XB1 does 2 things a once when installing a game. It dl updates and installs. I only have 13mbps and I have
no problems.

could be your ISP throttling your connection to live for downloading a huge amount of data, you need to see if your ISP has a fair usage policy as they may be using traffic shaping to keep every body near you on a stable connection. Who is your ISP.

Says they have no traffic management, so it cant be that.

As for installing of games, it can take a while mostly because when you start the install process, the Xbox One looks to see if there is an update (which for Ryse there will be) it then starts to download the update while its also installing the game, which
can drastically impact the install time.

What most people found was to disconnect the console from the internet when you install from disc, once its installed then connect it back to the net and get the update.

 

It must be your download, I am on 120Mbit Virgin Fiber Optic and all my games are digital, titanfall downloaded in about 10 mins, but i was playing it after 1min as it downloaded. Destiny installed before I got home as i purchased it from my phone.

Titanfall took 6 hours :O defo something wrong with your setup there
