How on earth did my son's account get a communication ban?????

My son had a communication ban for 7 days this morning with no explanation from Microsoft. The message received was...

He was playing Fortnite Battle Royale which has no in game texting feature, he does not use a microphone so cannot talk to other gamers, he has game chat turned off so cannot hear other players, he has not sent or received any messages.

Customer services refuse to speak to me, I failed to get all of the questions correct on the questionaire so have been locked out for 24 hours.

This is absolutely disgusting service from Microsoft. No proof given to me whatsoever about his supposed violations.

If it wasn't for the fact his friends are all on Xbox, I would shut down the account and make him play on the Playstation. At least Sony don't have such a draconian, secretive and punitive method of banning their customers for absolutely no apparent reason.

My son's xbox account was suspended by enforcement for communication issues. Please tell me what he did or said.

I don't know what category to post this in, nor do I know how to describe it.

While my son was playing on X-box live with a friend of his, my wife was also doing something on the computer with her account. Suddenly, the on-line communication changed from my son's headset to the Kinex unit and the communication started going through
the TV.

We want to know what we did so that in the future, we can avoid it, or change it if we want?

We fixed the problem by doing a complete shutdown and restart. How could we have fixed the problem?

 

the reports are always verified by the enforcement team, so if he got a communication ban there is a reason. try again for the case review tomorrow.

The ONLY place that handles that is the enforcement site. We do not have access to that info as well as normal support can not access it.

Be aware that a ban is not instant and can be from a past offense.

These include

Text chats via Xbox live

Ingame chat

Ingame voice

Xbox live voice.

I would suggest you check into his sent messages via his xbox *Not ingame*

The reason a EXACT reason is not given is that the BANNED person could then go back and figure out exactly who reported them then keep up the harassment.

The system is not automatic and has a real person checking them over. Hence why most likely this is from a earlier time and a enforcement member JUST got to it.

Thanks for the replies guys and have been back through his last months of messages and there is nothing remotely offensive. All of the messages are to or from his school mates and consist of things like "invite" "got to go now" or "back after dinner"

As mentioned he does not use gamechat or a microphone so I am totally stumped and pretty irritated.

I've checked his online reputation and it's perfect...never had any problems

 

Rep does not go hand in hand with reports. Be aware messages can also be deleted. Kids are smart and can hide stuff *Not saying he did this directly* Also messages go away after 30 days of not being interacted with. So a "Friend" Of his could have reported
a message and a team checked his ENTIRE message history.

Also be aware spam and being rude when done to much could also lead to a ban.
